Militia Link Suspected In Acts Against Federal Land Workers The Fbi Is Examining March Bombings Of Forest Service In Nevada. - Philly.com

WASHINGTON — Bombings and threats aimed at federal land managers in the West have prompted an FBI investigation, as well as memos from higher-ups in Washington, urging workers in the field to be careful.

Environmentalists and former government workers said last week that they suspected the violence was linked to anti-government militias and the anti- environmentalist "wise use" movement, both of which have gained ground rapidly in the West.

And so, now it's come to being violent towards people working in the field who are employed by the US Government as Forest Service and BLM people.

This won't come to an end until more government employees are injured or killed by just performing their jobs. Then the government might do something about finding these nut jobs, arresting them and getting them into courts.

It must be pretty bad for people just doing their jobs having to look over their shoulders all the time, wondering if someone is going to attack them.

The KGB were just doing their jobs too...

Are we fishing here?

First article from 2013, the second from '95.

I wonder if the OP were this outraged when ELF and ALF were spiking trees and injuring or killing people cutting timber?

I believe it might raise some attention to the fact that some militia groups are, and can be violent by their actions.

I'm not saying I support such action, let me get that out of the way.

But there are reasons why a "push back" is occurring, and it goes back to a couple decades of Federal land-grabs and abuses of power and mistreatment of the citizenry in areas where the Feds wanted to control the land. Nevada is one of the hot-spots for this. Do a little background research... these things don't happen in a vacuum, and Clive Bundy is just the most currently media-visible flashpoints... there have been many.

I don't suppose bombing of federal offices outrages you at all? How about planting a bomb on a forest service worker's vehicle? Does that bother you?

As can the Fedgov, often well beyond the degree allowed by law, or merely under the color of law.

Did you support the massacre of the Branch Davidians, including women and children? We can both play this game.

I've already said I am not speaking in support of such actions.

I'm saying there are reasons why some are pushing back, after decades of being pushed.

When it come to people and their private possessions (or just privacy) there are very few things that get the FedGov's attention.

Here's an example of 'tinkering' the FedGov has done to cause people's distrust and anger.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all about protecting the wilderness areas of this country but, there needs to be a damn good reason why the FedGov wants to own so much of the western US.

I believe your snarky responses indicate otherwise. What's the reference to the KGB?

No. It is my country as much as it is yours. Excuse me if I am not fond of the heavy-handed way it is being run.

I wonder if you'd be so cavalier about harming federal agents if the shooter was wearing a turban instead of a cowboy hat.

What's with the KGB remark?

That was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but the point is that someone can be "just doing their job" and still be oppressing people.

Do I think that, by and large, the average Ranger or BLM employee is equivalent to the KGB or engaged in oppression? No. Do I support indiscriminate violence against same? No.

But as I keep saying (and you keep ignoring) there are REASONS why there is a push-back going on, and it involved Federal land grabs and numerous offenses against property owners in certain states, and heavy-handed Fed actions.

The thing that ought to concern everyone is that we've reached a point where grievances against the People have caused some to start viewing any Fedgov agent as an enemy... and to recognize that the reasons why are NOT simply "militia are violent for no reason".

They tried the due process, court of law thing for twenty years. Why don't you tell us how much more leeway a man gets before his door gets kicked in?

So those bombings by militias in '95 is some how linked to an increase in in violence in 2013?

Just out of curiosity...how exactly can you link what some militia did in '95 to the increased violence against park rangers since the blog you sourced doesn't even have the word "militia" in it but instead refers to the sequestrian in '13?

Why do I have a feeling that this thread is because of whats going on with Cliven Bundy and the OP just wants to make all militias look like terrorists so that they can be punished while not caring about actual evidence......?

Foreign terrorists =/= citizens outraged over decades of abuses of power.

I thought it was going to be a link to the text of the patriot act or something.

I believe in protecting whatever we have left too, but, why are militia groups targeting people who work in the field? Aren't they spinning their wheels? Shouldn't they be getting their heads together and filing lawsuits or briefs in the courts? That's why there are courts, for people to file their grievances they have with the government. Not sneaking around in the shadows hoping to ambush innocent people just trying to do their jobs.
