The media’s version of the end of the Bundy Ranch siege is that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) simply “left” the ranch and “returned” the cattle out of the goodness of their hearts. CBS News even outrageously reported that the BLM “released the cattle to help restore order and avoid violence“! This despite widely-seen video of BLM thugs tasing Bundy’s son and shoving a pregnant woman to the ground. And the protesters never threatened violence in any way during the nearly one-week siege.

The real story was that the BLM refused to give back the cattle, and would not leave the property or disarm, to which they had agreed. The result was an epic standoff that reporter David Knight described as being like “something out of a movie.”

I'd like to see some hard evidence that Reid was involved, not that I would necessarily doubt it, but it would be nice to have that.

Me too.

I am intepreting the events totally different and have a totally differerent set of mental headlines:

- Rancher refuses to pay user fees on land that is not his (he still wants to use that though)... .
-Rancher claims his ancestory gives him a mystical right to things that he does not own... .
- "Evil" federal governments waits for years before taking any action against squatter... .
-Rancher uses the power of the 'net to summon goon squad. Most of the goon squad are from out of state... .

This is not to say that the fact that the third generation rancher's privelages to use the area should not be given special consideration, or that tortoises should take precedence.

Right.

Then, the other side of the argument, is that rich industrialists and developers are behind an effort to have lands, which are currently owned by the Federal government, in Western states transferred back to the ownership of the several states so that the States can then sell off to those same lands to the industrialists and developers by way of special auctions and other less-than-above-board transactions.

After all, if the Federal government does relinquish those lands to the States there is no conceivable way the States can effectively and responsibly manage those lands while still maintaining the balanced budgets their Constitutions mandate.

In the end the same Chinese energy concerns that stand to benefit from the alleged Reid deal will benefit, just by different arithmetic.

The only real difference is, who benefits in between?

Make no mistake, no matter how you slice it it isn't going to be average Joe American?

Are the Reids going to get rich cutting a deal with the Chinese?

Is Sandoval going to benefit in campaign donations and political clout by cutting a deal with the "Koch brothers" (stereotypical placeholder for all 1%er "robber-Barron" type American billionaire capitalists) who will then, themselves, benefit financially by personally developing the land or through the tertiary action of then selling the land to the Chinese?

Who was the guy with the beard? What kind of department has a grooming policy that looked like this guy? Hat on backwards? The leftwingers who hate the people with the flags can thank the man in the White House, because his presence as a overreaching executive is the catalyst for this. People are fed up with the likes of him, his cohorts and crooks like Harry Reid. The people of Nevada need to challenge the recall laws that say they can't recall Reid, and recall that SOB. A man who represents a state in which the federal govt controls 84% of the land, is actually representing the fed govt.

MSNBC last night said its another "Benghazi scandal". Meaning its nothing to see here, move on. How the left can outright lie like this is beyond me.

The media outlets are owned by the same guys. If they are told not to cover something, they don't.

Journalistic integrity is meaningless in Nevada.

I read it, I still don't know what this is about. The Bundys are grazing on Reid's private property (the mines)? I guess there's some turtles somewhere too, not sure what that little piece of trivia has to do with anything. And what about unpaid fines? What fines? For cattle trespassing on private property?

Harry Reid is a disgrace. He's elected to represent the people of Nevada, instead he joins the feds to attack his constituents with rifles and tasers. He's all for the the Spanish Employees International Union (SEIU) and open borders though. Now we're finding out that he's partnering with the Chinese to use Nevada public land for Chinese and his own profit to the exclusion of Americans. Where does the traitorous behavior stop?

What we haven't heard is how much the feds have been raising the fees for grazing. Brundy only has 900 head and the feds have been trying to shut people out of public land in Nevada for years. One of their techniques is to raise fees so high that all the profit is gone for the ranchers. My guess is that is when Bundy quit paying.

I've was involved in property rights in Northern Nevada and around Tahoe for years. For the past twenty years, the BLM and USFS have been shutting down and blocking off as many roads into remote areas as possible. They do not want the public to be able to use public land. All of the boat launches at Tahoe have been rebuilt so the parking areas are not large enough for the number of boaters and there are virtually no places to park along the perimeter road around the lake.

The entire land management issue in Nevada is way beyond simply a matter of a rancher not paying his fees. The federal government through the BLM and USFS does not want anyone using public land throughout the state.
