A dispensary in Colorado is making the most of the state’s recent legalisation of cannabis by introducing the world’s first marijuana vending machines.
The machine, called ZaZZZ, will work in a similar way to cigarette machines but includes new technology that requires would-be tokers to scan their driving licence (or other, similar documentation) before they can access the goods.
Multiple cameras attached to the machine make sure the person swiping the card is definitely its owner and will deny access if there is no obvious match.
American Green, the creator of the ZaZZZ, has labelled it "an automated, age-verifying, climate-controlled marijuana dispensing machine."
For the moment, the automated dispensary is only for medical marijuana users, of which there are 2.5 million in the US, but plans are afoot to update them for full commercial use and to include "edibles" such as brownies and cookies.
The unveiling of the machine comes on the heels of news that Colorado collected £1.2 million in taxes from recreational marijuana suppliers in January; the suppliers themselves rung up $14 million in sales......
World
I never thought I would see the day. When they came out with Vending Machines to sell Marijuana. But here it is.....April 14 2014.
For myself.....I am not against those that are into Marijuana. Medical or recreational. But I do think there has been some falsehoods put out there with the legalization of it. Moreover here Right before the final deadline on taxes, Colorado releases these numbers and is celebrating over them. Now while they gained revenue thru this endeavor. IMO the numbers are not all that great. 1.2 Mil in taxes. I am wondering the cost of legalization and with regulation, what the percentage is on if they are in the red or actually gained.
The next step is to have these machines for recreational users. Already some are saying they have them in Bars ready to go. Yet have not sold thru this means due to the law. Now while I believe there is more good that is associated with Marijuana.....I have some concerns about access to it by Kids. Granted, I was a kid when I first came into contact with it and began growing up with it. Vending machines.....to me presents a problem with this. As this opens up businesses to more possibilities with crime. As in theft.....armed and unarmed. Despite the concern we know it will end up becoming a reality.
So.....then I would be adamant about No Vending machines being placed in Businesses around schools. What is your take upon the matter and what say ye?
