You do know there is alcohol involved with Catholic communion?

Ah, I get it. The rules apply to everyone else but not me!

If you don't know not to have sex before you're ready to be a parent, maybe becoming one (whehter you want to or not) will teach you that lesson, and you'll pass it on to your child. If you don't know you can't get a decent job in this country without a high school diploma or with a criminal record, maybe you don't deserve a decent job.
Most people get along fine. Even when mistakes are made. No human is perfect and we don't need a Tigger State to tell us how to live it.

Legal or illegal, there's always going to be roughly the same ratio of people who love weed vs absolutely hating the hell out of it. Considering how easy it is to get weed even when illegal, the only significant changes I foresee with complete national legalization is the quality of the marijuana, but that's more or less it.

Personal anecdote: the stigma of getting a medical marijuana card sort of dissipated within the last couple years, and I thought, oh what the hell, it's been ten years, let's check this out. A few observations:

1.Getting a medical marijuana card in California is incredibly difficult, so when you're in the "office" with the doctor, be sure to memorize the following words: "I sometimes have trouble sleeping." Got that? Good, you've got your marijuana card.
    2.Dispensaries are everywhere.
3.Most of said dispensaries are empty. I went into around half a dozen, and only once was another customer in the store.
4.I've seen dispensaries in my neighborhood come and go. It appears to be like any business.
5.Legal or not, and removing the skeevy nature of acquiring marijuana only to find out it's oregano, I came to this final conclusion: I absolutely hate marijuana. It is estimated that Eskimos have fourteen words for snow. Based on all the varieties and combinations of sativa and indica, I can personally testify that there are at least twenty words for "paranoia."

It's not for everyone, and legalization isn't going to change that.

I think marijuana should be legal for anyone over 21, just like alcohol is.

Sugar is, for the most part, an Upper. Marijuana, Alcohol and Tobacco are Downers. They depress the body's ability to make decisions and to react instantly to potential threats. THAT is what makes them immoral.

I don't see State as a Religion. I see it as a means to enforce proper Morality on a population that is either unable, unwilling, or both to live to any moral standard.

I am well aware that alcohol is involved in pretty much all Christian (not just Catholic) religious services. Let their God change water into wine for them, as he supposedly did in the Bible.

We don't allevaite personal responsibility. We're simply reacting to the fact that the vast, extreme super-majority of Americans have proven that they have no willingness or capability of living a properly moral life when left to their own devices. It should be up to society to enforce that morality, but American society no longer even bothers to try to do that. Therefore only the Government is left to fill that void.

When you moved out of your parent's house you should have gotten a new "parent", though the more common title for Him is HUSBAND.
You make me wanna crack open this bottle of Buffalo Trace and get loaded.
Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can sit in a boat, drinking beer all day while you fool around with his Woman.

That's the exact opposite of what you are proposing.

Many of us are more than capable of running our own lives. You don't see us because we're not making news demanding for free abortions, increased child care vouchers, and more food stamps. That's why you don't realize how many of us there really are.
Just a moment ago you were saying people can't run their own lives. So which is it?

    Misogynist.
    At least you're honest.

Not at all. The rules should apply to everyone equally. Rich, poor, old, young, etc.... The difference is that since I already follow the laws, the impact of that enforcement would be much less on me than on most other people.

Not at all. I'm simply suggesting that the level of consequences be increased.

I have said that MOST of the American citizenry cannot be trusted to run their own lives. For many of us (though still a small minority) these changes wouldn't affect us at all because we already lead decent and moral lives.
