The American Family Association's Bryan Fischer is no fan of "Modern Family." Fischer, whose opposition to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights is well-established, slammed the hit ABC series in an interview with Idaho radio host Kevin Miller, Right Wing Watch first reported. "Modern Family," Fischer said, is "designed to make you think that same-sex households are wonderful" and "the optimum nurturing environment for children," while depicting heterosexual marriage as "bondage, dreary," and "gloomy.""We know that social research indicates exactly the opposite," he noted.Watching the show, he added, was "like getting a little bit of poison over a long period of time, eventually getting enough accumulation in there where it can be kind of lethal to the organism."

He then concluded, "People are just watching TV to be entertained, not realizing that their view of life is being twisted in a way that's very harmful to them and harmful to our culture.""If you care about children, this thing ought to appall you because gay marriage is bad for children," Fischer said. "In fact, same-sex parenting ... is a form of child abuse."

I watched an episode last night where the fat gay guy was questioning why they even adopted a kid and was so fed up he took the baby to one of the straight couples and said to keep her for a while so I think the gay guys are portrayed as a normal couple with normal issues with their kids.

Or . . . they are trying to portray a Modern Family. Many of us have a relative who is gay and/or married. In my case, my favorite nephew is gay and married. Let's see, who else is represented in that show? A long married couple of the opposite sex with 3-kids . . . that sounds like me and my wife. Let's see, who else? A couple who have been previously married to other people and a step kid . . . Hmmmn, I wonder if there are any families like that out there in today's day and age?

Some would say that with the divorce rate among heterosexual couples, traditional marriage as a majority, has been obsolete for a while now.

Yep. REALLY tough to find fault with any of the couples in the Modern Family portrayals. Ive heard people I know that happen to be gay say they that spend half of the show pointing to either each other about the things that happen or both of them bring up others they know. And the fact is that at times everyone can relate to ALL of the couples and the situations, regardless of whether its "the gay couple" or the others. Its the elements of truth that make the show funny and successful.

I see my family often, with Claire and Phil's family. Hailey and Alex? Just like my two girls. :lol: My 16 year old is just like Hailey - all about how she looks, and doesn't care about grades. My 14 year old is like Alex, just starting to notice boys, but still keeps her nose buried in a book, and she is constantly making fun of my 16 year old for not being as smart as she is.

I've often heard criticisms that Cam and Mitchell have the worst relationship of the three couples and are always sniping at or undermining each other while rarely showing any real affection or intimacy for each other. I'm 55-years old and have been married since 1981, I've stopped giving years because I am always 1-or2-years off. It's funny, when we were together for 2-or-3-years I could figure it down to the hour . . . now I'm plus or minus a year or two. Same thing with my age . . . I remember saying "I'm 13-and-a-half" . . . now I'm lucky if I'm within one year.
