Beijing hotel workers already 'fed up' with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot, $8,3

Re: Beijing hotel workers already 'fed up' with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot,

The Liberals have gone to a great deal of effort to research and bring up the Bush family travel in the last few days. Instead of just saying that the First Family is entitled to travel - as they all have - the Liberal defense is what? "Bush did it too! He did! And so did his wife! And those twins on the safari - ARGGGHHHH!"

The "asinine thread" was about a report in the Daily Mail. Unlike the Bush family - it's current.

It isn't hard for me to comprehend. I enjoy watching partisan meltdowns and mentions of a woman who hasn't traveled as First Lady in 6 years.:lamo

"Instead of just saying the First Family is entitled to travel"? We used that argument five years ago; it was like talking to a wall. After pointing out that the travel argument was stupid and getting nowhere, we decided to focus on conservative hypocrisy. Which is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Ah, so you admit it. Admitting you can't argue with valid points is an excellent step in the right direction.

Wow, that's totally not what I said at all, but nice try. No, you're right, it IS a valid point. But good luck getting the wingnuts to acknowledge it; rather, they've sat here for five years bitching like crazy every time Obama sets foot on a plane. Why continue to argue that point if it's just going to be ignored by the intellectually dishonest right?

Because the left loves any excuse to bring up Bush.

Hey, he's an easy (and recent) guy to bring up when the right wants to complain about Obama doing something that they gave Bush a complete pass for just five years ago. And yes, that goes the other way with the left -- Obama gets routinely let off the hook for stuff Bush was excoriated for.

I'd also like it noted that I'm not the one who brought Bush into this discussion.

Re: Beijing hotel workers already 'fed up' with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot,

Of course he worked from his ranch. Just like every vacation Obama takes is a working vacation. What on earth is your point?

And yes, you're seeing stuff about Bush travel because conservatives make asinine threads like this one whining about Obama travel. I don't get why this is so hard for you to comprehend.

Working from home is not considered to be a vacation. Being at home is not considered to be a vacation.

An extended period of recreation and or tourism spent away from home meets the definition of a vacation.

The Nixon administration during the summer months would move the Presidential operations to San Clemente, California to the "Summer White House." Nixon's Secret Service detail lived on the Summer White House estate. It wasn't a vacation.

LBJ would at times would micromanage the Vietnam War and drink a lot of beer from his ranch in Texas. It was not a vacation.

Reagan ran the country from his ranch above Santa Barbra. No tourism involved and the only recreation was chopping wood. It was not a vacation.

G.W. Bush ran the government and met heads of states at his ranch in Crawford Texas. No tourism and splitting logs and clearing brush isn't really fun as a recreational activity. The Secret Service had it's own bunk house. It was not a vacation.

If Obama's Secret Service detail has to be put up in hotel suits, it's probably a vacation.

In other words, Obama's a lazy layabout because he doesn't have a ranch.

No, I think he's saying that people who repeated the Liberal talking points that Bush was hanging out at his ranch in Crawford and not working (like Michael Moore and posters on message boards) are simpletons. Of course, I can't read his mind...so I guess I'm sharing what I think.

No, he's attempting to make Obama look bad. That's his M.O.

Apparently, being in a hotel instead of on a ranch in Crawford, Texas, means no work is getting done.

Oh. And what's your MO when it comes to Obama? I may have missed all of your critical posts about him so you'll have to forgive me.

Considering this is the first time we've encountered each other, that's unsurprising.

I've been quite critical of Obama regarding the NSA, Afghanistan and drones. However, at the risk of turning this into an exercise in slagging on another poster, APACHERAT is basically single-minded regarding making everything into a partisan attack on Obama. That's all I'll say about that.

Re: Beijing hotel workers already 'fed up' with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot,

Nobody gave a rat's ass about First Family accomodations until Obama took office. Nobody.
Thats only because Obama's wife is having a good time while a ton of Americans are out of work and the economy is in dire straits and yet taxpayers have to pay for her hotel accommodations.

Michelle Obama is not in China on "vacation." It's a diplomatic tour.

In China, Michelle Obama calls for universal rights

The Obama's have a house on the Chicago's South Side.

But after hitting the affirmative action lotto, it seems that the Obama's feel they are better than those who live in Obama's old hood. How many nights since January 20th, 2009 have Barack or Michelle have slept under the roof of their own home ?

The only President who has a legitimate excuse for not sleeping in their own home when getting away from D.C. were the Clintons. The Clinton's have always lived in government housing or sponged off of friends sleeping on the couch. That's why the there's a Camp David.

What we have here are the Chicago South Side Hillbillies.

There is no bigger defender of the Obama's and Obama's second rate incompetent administration than Kobie.

Why do you insist on lying about me?

The only time I "defend" the Obamas is from partisan lies.

When someone proposes that the worst thing Hitler ever did was kill and eat a unicorn, I am not defending Hitler when I point out that unicorns do not exist.

If some of us believe it to be true, it can't be a lie can it ?

Select your words carefully.

No, if it's not true, than it's a lie. I don't care what you "believe to be true." I care about what actually is true.

If it were true, it would make Hitler more evil than Stalin.

1. Definition of lying

>" There is no universally accepted definition of lying to others (Kagan 1998, 113). The OED definition of lying is as follows:

To lie =df to make a false statement with the intention to deceive.
There are several problems with this definition. According to it, a person who makes a statement that she believes to be true — a person who makes a truthful statement — with the intention to deceive another person, is lying, if, unbeknownst to her, the statement is false. For example, if A tells B that there is not a board meeting on Thursday, which A believes to be true, with the intention that B believe there is no board meeting this week, which A believes to be false (since A believes there is a board meeting on Wednesday), then A is lying to B, if A is mistaken, and there is a board meeting on Thursday. Also, according to this definition, conspirators who knowingly make untruthful and false statements to each other, without the intention to deceive each other, but with the intention to deceive eavesdroppers, are lying. Both of these cases are controversial, and it is not clear that we should classify either of these cases as lies.

The most commonly accepted definition of lying that manages to avoid these problems is the following: “I take a lie to be an assertion, the content of which the speaker believes to be false, which is made with the intention to deceive the hearer with respect to that content” (Williams 2002, 96); or, more formally:

To lie =df to make an assertion that is believed to be false to some audience with the intention to deceive the audience about the content of that assertion..."<
