Kansas and Arizona win voter proof-of-citizenship ruling

A U.S. District judge in Wichita ruled on March 19 that the federal Election Assistance Committee must change federal voter registration forms in order to account for state laws that require new voters to prove U.S. citizenship. USA Today reporter Alan Gomez talks with Hari Sreenivasan about the ruling's implication for the nation at large.

Damnit This is going to open the door for voter suppression. Here in KS we have over 15,000 people having their right to vote held up by the Secretary of State now this is just going to spread. Essentially its trying to solve a problem, where there is no problem. Its being used as a political tool by the GOP.

Do you believe only citizens should vote?

If you don't, why should foreigners be able to vote in our elections?

If you do, should people prove they are eligible? How?

How would you recommend that voting officials verify that the person that registered is the person who is voting.

In Texas, evidence of voter fraud abounds

In the USA Today article I found this paragraph interesting.
In Texas, evidence of voter fraud abounds. In recent years, my office has secured more than 50 voter fraud convictions. Those include a woman who voted in place of her dead mother, a political operative who cast ballots for two people, and a city councilmember who registered foreign nationals to vote in an election decided by 19 votes. Voter fraud is hard to detect, so cases like these are just the tip of the iceberg.
Greg Abbott wrote that, he's the Attorney General in Texas.

I have never quite understand why it's okay for the government to force people to provide an ID when buying alcohol, buying cigarettes, buying medical marijuana, enrolling your children in public school, or buying over the counter medication but it's not okay to require an ID to vote.

This is a proud day for America in ensuring voter disenfranchisement and voter fraud are minimized to the furthest extent.

    ID is required for loans.

There is nothing wrong with having to prove your a citizen and who you are to vote.
