Heya Cap. That's due to the fact that Putin knows we can't make up the difference with oil and gas to the EU.

"Led by the powerhouse lobbying of the American Petroleum Institute, a coalition of Fortune 500 energy companies are using the Ukraine crisis to spur Congress to approve a key policy goal: Easing regulations on the export of U.S. natural gas.

Despite a decade-long boom in U.S. natural gas production, very little of America's vast gas reserves are exported.. That's because strict regulations on the transfer and storage of gas have made it impossible to profitably ship out of the U.S.

Oil and gas companies have paid Washington lobbyists millions in recent years to challenge the strict export rules.....snip~

The US Congress, of course, routinely gets down on its knees and sucks Rex Tillerson's cock, so anything Exxon wants, Exxon gets. . .

Well, I won't dignify the cock sucking with a response, however it would seem that Krauthammer made a couple salient points. First, sanctioning seven Russians is probably the oddest thing I've ever seen a President do. I thought it was hilarious when he said that Obama might ramp up the pressure by sanctioning eleven. The second was that If Obama didn't have a coherent response to Russian aggression, the best thing he could do is keep quiet.

We subsidize all kinds of government's around the world. Many that we shouldn't. I personally believe that the cost/benefit that we get with Israel is worth it.

The personal crap isn't professional, nor necessary. And it could lead to unintended consequences if they keep it up. It seems our immature Congress can't comment on other world leaders anymore, without it descending into "nah, nah you're a meanie tyrant and dictator who oppresses everyone". Like they're a bunch of saints.
Neither side seriously wants a rupture but both sides are compelled to escalate the tension to serve their respective political interests.

We can't fight them. Sanctioning (real sanctioning) unilaterally damages both our businesses and alliances to no one's benefit.

But if we do nothing, then every Ukraine in the world (and there are a lot) is going to redouble their effort to acquire nuclear weapons.

Fifty years later we could be looking back at this as the beginning of the end.

Sorry to see you think this is over.
Sorry to see you take glee in what you think is another event to do your Obama-rant.
We'll see who laughs last, just like the election.

What a stupid analogy equating Russia next door to another Nation Putin invades versus the USA around the globe.
There is a greater % of Americans rooting for Putin than Russians.
    Pretty sick don't you think?

The last thing Putin has is class.
Right down there with the people who think Obama is a failure on Putin's invasion.
Are you down with Cold War 2.0?
May all Americans rot in hell hoping Putin will succeed over Obama/USA .

Since Putin invaded another Nation, both sides are compelled to escalate the tension.
Only in America could such a double standard be applied to Obama versus Bush-43 .

What this amounts to is "which world super-power's economy will blink first".

If I were a betting man I'd say Russia. The U.S. sanctioning their wealthy billionaires will have a far deeper economic impact on the Russian economy than their sanctioning our wealthy Congressmen. The source of our wealth rest with wealth creators who reside outside the DC beltway. Theirs rest within the Kremlin.

Who said just Putin.....try Lavrov outclassing, out-witting, and manipulating Kerry. Susan Rice, Samatha Powers, and just about anybody we have had dealing with Russia these last 6 years.

I can't help it you are unable to figure out how most experts out there say there isn't anything the US can do that's not going to affect ourselves. Yet here we have Democrats like Dick Durbin running around trying to create a bigger issue with Russia and even enough so to top Putins list on who he is banning here in the US.

Filing resolutions to get the Ukrainians more money. Which we don't need to give the Ukrainians anymore money. Now they came asking for weapons.

Right now the EU is admitting their sanctions aren't as severe as ours are now. Which they aren't much of anything at this point. Other than us stopping Military to military talks.

Also I already have a piece up that speaks to Obama's Foreign Policy being a failure. I think that's tied in with What McCain said about Obama.

Get real Obama knows that it will have zilch effect. He's just tossing this cowboy swagger around to pacify the naive, gullible voters who don't like to think of their country as "weak."

What's hilarious to the max is the inability of so many on the right to recognize that Obama is doing that, and isn't even trying to do anything.

That's why they think O is weak--they assume, childishly, that he actually cares about this latest action by Putin and is doing his best, when he really doesn't. Weakness, FYI, is only exhibited when one wants to fight but can't, but not when one refuses to do so.
