I do not think they ever intended to be helpful there to begin with.

I have been keeping my eye out to see when the final list comes in.

Plus Putin just to play with McCain might not have him on there as I am sure he saw McCains remarks about Obama in the NY times.
Being ignored is even worse, making him feel irrelevant....lol

McCain is right about some things, like most people, but he's been a militant nut-bag since Vietnam.

    Yet.

Besides, we have yet to see how China will assist its ally Russia in this time of need.....they do own a lot of US debt.

Russia can obliterate the world with nukes, not likely. But China can start a market stampede by selling (dumping) our debt, using another currency for trade and cutting us off from buying goods. They could step up sales to Europe, Asia, India, South America and other countries to cover some of the losses. They're already supporting Iran for oil purposes and side with Russia on Syria, but I think that's as far as they'll go for now. The Japan row over the South China sea islands is another hot-point and Taiwan is dicey. Most large nations are opportunists in geopolitical strategics and look for a weakness or strength in another before cozying up.

At least Russian takeover of Crimea was a victory for gay rights there!

Oh, wait, homosexuality is legal in the Ukraine. It was in Crimea until last week too.

So let's all cheer the humanitarian Russians for militarily taking over Crimea, including now able to prosecute all LGTBs there!

Three cheers for Putin!!! Putting a stop to that damn gay rights crap going on in their own subjugated Eastern bloc countries.

Besides, that's "democratic" rule. An entire region of LGTBs were just made criminals and put under military rule of the born-again Christian Russia.

Putin is expected to release his retaliation list as early as Tuesday and while the final list is still being crafted, it will include top Obama administration officials and high profile U.S. senators, in an effort to roughly mirror the U.S. sanctions against Russian officials and lawmakers, according to diplomatic sources. At the top of the list in Congress is Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, who recently co-authored a resolution criticizing Russia’s invasion of Crimea.

Durbin’s inclusion on Putin’s list would mirror Obama’s naming of Valentina Matvienko, the head of the upper chamber of the Russian Duma. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are not expected to be on the Russian sanctions list.

Sen. John McCain, who traveled to Kiev last weekend to meet with Ukrainian leaders, told The Daily Beast that he expects to be on the list and is happy about it.

“You think I’m not going to be on it?” McCain said. “I would be honored to be on that list.”

McCain said he would not be impacted financially by being subject to a visa ban and asset freeze in the Russian Federation.

“I guess I’m going to have to try to withdraw my money from my secret account in St. Petersburg,” he joked.

Other names that could be on the Russian sanctions list, although not confirmed, include Sens. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Bob Corker (R-TN), the leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee who are leading the sanctions drive in the Senate, and Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, who has been heavily involved in working with the Ukrainian opposition that ousted the Yanokovich government.

One U.S. official who can rest easy is White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, who will not be on Putin’s sanctions list. Carney is rumored to be lobbying to replace former Ambassador Mike McFaul as the next U.S. Ambassador to Moscow, who will also not be on the list.....snip~

While Johnny Quest makes his joke about pulling money out of his secret account. Do you think Johnny here figured out that's what the Russians have been saying all along ever since we tried the very first one. Now What are they going to do in catching a Diplomat traveling on a travel ban? Did any think Diplomatic Immunity still didn't apply?

Yeah and Durbin.....not only put forth a resolution in the House. He has been running around and telling all that Putin is like Stalin and he will go after other Countries. Wonder How Dapper Dick feels about What Gorbachev said with his support for Putin.? What say ye.....for the Play we started with. Will it go round in circles?
I wonder how many US Congressmen have Russian bank accounts?

Except Putin doesn't have to spit directly on Congress. Remember US = plutocacy; if Putin spits on Congress' owner, i. e. Exxon, then he can make Congress do whatever he wants.

Putin: "If you don't stop interfering in Crimea, I'll ban your Senators from entering Russia."

Congress: "HA HA we don't give a !@#$"

Putin: "If you don't stop interfering in Crimea, I'll ban all Vodka and caviar exports to the US."

Congress: "HA HA we don't give a !@#$"

Putin: "If you don't stop interfering in Crimea, I'll give Iran S-400 missiles and we'll see how Israel copes with them."

Congress: "As we said before, the sanctions against Russia are wholly unjustified and must be cancelled immediately. Russia is a free and prosperous democracy, and Putin is a great man."
