Westboro Baptist Church Founder 'On The Edge Of Death'

Fred Phelps, the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church, known for protesting the funerals of members of the military, is "on the edge of death," according to his estranged son.Nate Phelps wrote on Facebook Saturday night that his father was not doing well.

"I've learned that my father, Fred Phelps, Sr., pastor of the 'God Hates Fags' Westboro Baptist Church, was ex-communicated from the 'church' back in August of 2013. He is now on the edge of death at Midland Hospice house in Topeka, Kansas," he wrote. "I'm not sure how I feel about this. Terribly ironic that his devotion to his god ends this way. Destroyed by the monster he made."
Nate Phelps then confirmed to Patheos that he had learned from multiple ex-communicated members of the church that his father was not doing well.

I would love to see about 100,000 soldiers show up to protest his funeral.

Yeah! and all take turns pissing on his grave.
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

See to me this is the incorrect approach.

The ultimate expression of defiance against who he was is to do the opposite of what he did.

I think picket his funeral absolutely respectfully, no signs, not a sound, no branded T shirts with slogans.

I think that says it well.

    Better to just ignore him.

Phelps and his successors are media whores. I believe his daughter is poised to lead the group after his death. This lady loves to be on TV debating and defending her twisted views.

The best harm you can do to them is to deny them any attention.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Wonder why he got excommunicated, though --

It's not his beliefs that ever bothered me. He's entitled to those, even though I don't respect them and vehemently disagree. It's all about what he did to others on what was probably the worst day of their life.

I think he's got some serious 'splainin' to do.
