That sure sounds pretty effed up to me.
The OP started this off as a conversation about gun control. It is not an RIP thread. We are discussing political ramifications, as well as social ones, of banning guns, and how easy it is to just substitute another weapon when guns are not readily available. Sometimes those weapons might be less destructive, sometimes more destructive.

    Obviously.

Let's by all means make this all about promoting the notion of providing Islamist terrorists access to weapons capable of killing more people than knives so as to serve our extremely dogmatic agenda when it comes to guns.

Never bring a gun to a knife fight.

Well, this time they chose knives. Next time, they could use a bomb. The point is that they are going to find a way to kill regardless, and that can be equated to gun control issues here in America as well. Stricter gun control does not necessarily equal less crime or less murder.

One person with a CCW could have put a quick end to the knife attack. Three or four could have ended it before it had begun.

Of course, an autocratic and authoritarian government like that of China would never allow ordinary citizens to have weapons.

If the average person can have a CCW, don't you think the terrorists would have had guns too?

Well, maybe. It depends on the black market for firearms.
