I still think it is more likely than not that Russia doesn't send troops into Ukraine. But only just. I think they will use proxies to create more devolved autonomy for pro-Russian spheres of support and if the government in Kiev plays ball they will drop Yanukovych and enter into a slow detente.

I wasn't suggesting we should use our military in Ukraine. I agree with MAD.

Well now, how CON of you. BushII didn't 'do anything' for Georgia when Russia invaded, and that was after doing a PR 'we stand by you' empty song and dance. One might say BushII replaced the 'once mighty eagle' with a turkey.

Now let's review the 'eagles' actions in Eastern Europe since WWII. Did Eisenhower opt to invade Hungary when the Soviets put 17 Divisions in during the uprising of 1956? Did Reagan support the Polish uprising which drug on through-out his two terms?

There are some very simple equations to do here, how many units can we put into the Ukraine vs the Soviets? What are the turnaround times for air support for both the Russians and the USAF? Will NATO pour dozens of combat units into the Ukraine?

Now history tells us so many times our reward when we tried to 'protect' a nation with American lives and treasure is a piss poor result vs the other nation defending themselves with THEIR lives and our support?

I'd say it is time to replace the cowboy penis with the did better than a C in school brain...

Yup. Plus an additional 200 troops isnt going to influence it one way or the other.

Domestically theory would support your thesis in a way. Almost every transaction in a society would be made differently, if there were no police. Every society requires the implicit use of force to uphold the order.

How many times did Reagan go to war with the USSR? I don't want a war with Russia because we'll all end up dead. You realize that, right? Do you want to die for the Crimea?
