America is fed up of me: Morgan to quit CNN job

Like geeesh...how dare a foreigner come on TV and question the American way of doing things...:2razz:....he should have researched Rosie O's fall from fame to see that you don't question anything gun related and never openly support gun control on TV.

****ing A right!

Don't come in our house and try to push us around.

Holy god, I just heard Alex Jones for the first time on his talk with Morgan. That guy is utterly mental!

Morgan's problem is that he never recognized that HE was a moron, and attracted other morons.

I have watched several interviews that he had done, and he came across as smug little douchebag.

He has reaped what he had sown.

He certainly isn't leaving the lucrative primetime spot he has at CNN of his own volition though. They probably are allowing him to save face with the illusion that it is his idea, but I don't believe that for one minute. The fact is his ratings are in subterranean territory and he simply has neither the ability or personality to do anything about that. But he was honest in saying the experience has been painful and they took a bath in the ratings.

Nielson ratings for that time slot February 20:

Fox - The Kelly File - 1874
MSNBC - Rachel Maddow - 925
CNN - Piers Morgan - 364
HLN - Dr Drew on Call - 296
CNBC - American Greed - 172

And the scuttlebutt is that Larry King wants the show back.

I guess that Larry's 3am cable infomercials might not be as fulfilling and lucrative as he had hoped......

For perspective, in 2010 Huffington Post listed the top cable news programs/personalities as:

1. Fox - O'Reilly 2.94
2. Fox - Hannity 2.635
3. Fox - Beck 2.057
4. Fox - Baier 1.929
5. Fox - Gretchen 1.856
6. Fox - Shep - 1.616
7. Fox - O'Reilly - late night repeat - 1.418
8. Fox - Cavuto - 1.301
9. Fox - America's Newsroom - 1.171
10. MSNBC - Olbermann - 1.059
11. Fox - Studio B - 1.051
12. Fox - Fox & Friends - 999,000
13. MSNBC - Maddow - 989,000
14. Fox - Happening - 930,000
15. HLN - Nancy Grace - 719,000
16. CNN - Anderson Cooper - 687,000
17. CNN - Larry King - 674,000
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/...-30_n_630984.html#s108333&title=1_The_OReilly

And while all cable news ratings have slipped a bit since 2010, Piers is pulling 384,000 or about half of what Larry King was pulling. I don't think Larry has a prayer to get his spot back, but it does look like CNN would start looking for a new game plan.

Naw, I think he just misses the glamour and recognition of a prime time TV show. I'm pretty sure he has plenty of money to live out his days quite pleasantly, but he must be bored out of the limelight.

they at least are American citizens. PM was an arrogant POS who looked down on this country. When you have far left hacks like Whoopie Goldberg saying he was arrogant (while agreeing with PMs hysterical anti gun idiocy) you know the man was a douche bag

I actually don't like the guy. But let's not pretend hacks like Hannity and Limbaugh are any better.

I would say someone that only pulled in 50,000 from the age groups of 25-50 has serious problems reaching just about anyone, while Hannity and Limbaugh are clearly at least relating to someones views out there considering their ratings.

The problem with Piers Morgan is that just about everyone hates the guy and can't stand to hear him speak. It isn't really that he is anti-gun, but that he is a pompous ass. The same problem I might add that Obama has.

Yes, Hannity and Limbaugh are a lot better. Both defend the Constitution. Both are pro American. Both are pro honesty in the media and pro honest solutions to the problems. You don't have to like them or appreciate the content they use in their broadcasts. You don't have to believe that they never get something wrong. You don't have to believe that they never cross the line into bad taste or inflammatory language. But they both do their homework and do a better job than most to present accurate information in a format that is not boring or off putting to their listening audience which is substantial.

Piers Morgan seems to have none of those positive attributes and all of the negative ones. Which is why they succeed where he has failed. And that at least gives us a glimmer of hope that America has not been so dumbed down that nobody can tell the difference any more/

.

That speaks volumes about the audience.

And?? The point is they appeal to a certain group of people, which is more than I can say about Piers Morgan.

Honestly, righties crack me up. Listening to that pap and calling it good.

Well at least most of those on the right can provide a rationale for the opinions we hold. And it is because we can that we are on the right. Your side seems to have only non sequitur, straw men, red herrings, and ad hominem to offer. When you can actually focus on a principle and concept and articulate a defensible rationale for it, you might find you have moved over to the right side of the ideological spectrum and can understand why a Limbaugh or Hannity can attract a market share and somebody like Piers Morgan cannot.

God knows why people love talking head radio and tv show anchors. They aren't defending the Constitution, they aren't doing it to be pro-American. It's all about the money and the Cult of Personality. They want you to subscribe to their content, to buy their t-shirts, their ghost-written books, and to define your political will through their lens. It doesn't matter who it is. That's their goal.

When you spend a lot of time buying into their talk, all it's doing is harming your intellectual growth.

You have to feel sorry for him. He's not only Piers Morgan, he's trapped in the body of Piers Morgan too!

they are-they are citizens. PM is an asshole who looked down on America

That fact that neither hates America must be disappointing to you.
