Federal subsidies and grants constitute 40% of Texas' revenue. Texas can only afford (sort of) to have a low tax burden because it is heavily subsidized by the Federal government so don't get all high and mighty about the low tax burden in Texas while the rest of the country is footing the bill.

"While Texas’s state government debt is relatively modest—just $40 billion, or $1,577 per resident—local government debt is more than four times higher: $192 billion. That’s $7,505 per capita, according to Combs’s report—the second-highest sum in the nation, behind only New York’s municipalities and far ahead of third-place California’s. Over the last decade, moreover, local debt has increased 144 percent, much faster than the rate of population increase plus inflation."

    Link.

You cant claim victory by gobbling up federal funds and shifting costs to local governments.
Oh PLEASE show me the exact outlays that are coming out of the Treasury and that are being shuttled into Texas. Show me those "subsidies", those direct payments straight to the State General Fund from Obama.

    Unbelievable.

You can't be honest can you ? Lemme guess, you equate tax incentives as "subsidies" like they were direct payments.

Corporations all over America get "Subsidies" via tax incentives. By your definition of subsidy, California should be rolling in Federal dollars thanks to all of the "subsidies" that flow into Silicon Valley. APPLE, get's "subsidies" and they're huge and pull in allot of profit.

Our success has nothing to do with " subsidies" and everything to do with why people continue to flow into Texas from Liberal Blue Plague States.

We're actually utilizing the Conservative business model that people like you lament. We incentivize private sector growth and profit.

Why do you think States like NY are now starting to advertise Nationally a 10 year tax reprieve for any business that moves there ?

Because even NY is starting to understand that increased employment equates to increased revenue

Unemployment isn't a "tax" its a premium. Its an insurance policy purchased by the employed. Corporations don't go unemployed they out of business. They don't have a premium for that - well unless of course you donate to the regime and they give you a bail out (for example solyndra).

So does Airbus, and they make better planes. I love when everyone whines about Airbus...oooh, they are socialist money takers...but Boeing? LOL....Boeing accepts more government cheese than anyone wants to admit.

I worked as a FAA certified Aircraft mechanic for 10 years. Started on Corporate jets and moved to a Carrier.

We had a nick name for the Airbus. We called it the "Scare bus ".

Your assesment that airbus is better than Bowing is entirely based on your opinion and nothing more.

Good...now if the corporate/business taxes was removed completely, America could have an edge against foreign competition plus the government would have less power...win/win.

Based on 14 years in the airline industry and following the industry closely all my life.

Hell, you can't even spell Boeing (or assessment)

Boeing is one of the biggest government welfare recipients out there.

Beijing-bound MAS plane carrying 239 people missing

The authorities have begun a search and rescue for Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 after the Beijing-bound plane lost contact with air traffic controllers this morning, the airline said today.

MAS said flight MH370 lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am.

The B777-200 aircraft left the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12.41am and was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am.

"The flight was carrying 227 passengers (including two infants), 12 crew members," the airline said in a statement.

"Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their search and rescue team to locate the aircraft," it added.
