Ted Cruz: 60 votes or else on debt ceiling

So you're okay with Cruz hanging twelve of his fellow GOP Senators out to dry on the debt-ceiling.
Cruz has zero idea of what would happen with a default over his filibuster.
McConnell asked Reid to not read the roll call, so as to keep folks from finding out which SIX GOPs switched their votes on the filibuster.

Even if McConnell is getting ripped today by right-wing groups, he should be okay against Bevin.
This vote, IMO, will help McConnell against Lundergan-Grimes.
The GOP are spineless in the House in public.
All credit to Boehner for falling on the sword with his leadership team and blue/purple state GOPs.

Better ?
I am curious, What do you think the US government would default on if the debt-ceiling
was not raised? The Bonds get paid from the Treasure, before anything else.
Monthly on budget receipts are between $70 and 300 Billion,
Monthly interest on the Bonds averages about $40 billion.
We would have some really tough decisions, of the other stuff the Government pays for,
but Default would not happen.

Theres a limit how much you should be a delegate or trustee. Its common sense. Hes in a safe district anyways.
This is on the brink of lunacy.

The lunacy is the way government spends money.

Falling on the sword for the GOP was an intended consequence for Sen. McConnell, IMHO.
This move at showing he is bi-partisan will help him against Grimes.
The press is ripping both Reid and McConnell for the "secret" vote on the debt.
Reid did McConnell a big-time favor, allowing the silent vote while Mitch was arm-twisting.
Six GOP Senators who changed their NO votes on cloture to YES votes were allowed to do so without saying so out loud.
The previous cloture vote in progress was out loud, but suddenly went silent when McConnell and Cornyn fell on the proverbial sword.
Lean McConnell .

We will see, it is way to early to put anything in stone. But the race is intriguing. It seems I am the only one out of the 5 sites I check for the senate that thinks Grimes can win, the same for Nunn in Georgia. They also have Hagan and Landrieu holding their seats. All I can say there is hmm.

Anyone who thinks this idiot could win a national election, please support him.

Great move by Cruz. Now we know who the wimps are.

Yes, you do. Blast them in the primaries. Get more people like Cruz on the ballot!

Another lunacy is how much the government chose to cut taxes and then feigned outrage at the resulting deficits.... prior to the tax cuts, the budget was essentially balanced.

The 17 trillion dollar debt is costing 400bn a year in interest. Thats about $3000 avg in taxes each income tax filer has to pay each year. Surely there has to be a better way to deal with the deficit than borrowing money. Raise taxes, cut spending.

Both would be a good idea. Then the government, congress, the administration should stop adding programs until the deficits and debt is under control.

I would rather they cut spending of course, but simply having EVERYONE pay some taxes would solve that as well, instead of relying on 10% of the wage earners to pay most of it. The bottom 60% of tax payers account for 1.2 trillion in AGI but only 76bn in income taxes. And the benefit most from the 2 trillion in social spending.
