Death Sentence: 'Alarming' number of inmates dying in local US jails

YEs but that is not what the thread is about.

The thread is about the number nation wide of people who die in jail over a decade, which is a very small umber in a statistical sense.

Of course if an inmate is killed in jail justice needs to be served, what is ignored here however is that every one dies and it is most often unpredictable when they will die. Another way of putting it is that someone is GOING to die in jail sooner or later it is simply inevitable. The vast majority of those who die in jail die of natural causes it is not a reflection on the jail or criminal justice system. It is simple fact whereever people live they will also die.

Where I live it happens too much...

My parents did a documentary on this.......

iFramed - YouTube

Yeah progressives this **** happens to white folks too.

Its a light higher than what those alleged statistics show.... I can name at least 10 cases over the past 2 years just in my area where people died in jail (not prison but jail)...

Hell, just a couple of weeks ago some kid hung himself in Cook "Crook" County.

Death in these jail happens all the times and in some county jails you're safer on the streets than you are locked up.

Hell, in prison the murder per capita rate is higher than some of Chicagos worst neighborhoods.

What constitutes an area and how many jails are in it?

10 in 2 years is not a lot.

Suicide can only be prevented not eliminated the staff cannot be held accountable for that.

Your claims that you are safer on the streets and that the murder rate per caita is higher are absolutely false claims. You cannot back them up with comparable per capita murder rates which are lower.

Every county has a jail, I suppose cook has a couple but the average is 1 per county.

The problem is population...... If you took Lake County (IL), Crook County and Lake County (IN) and clustered them - the murder rate would be higher than the national per capita in the outside world.

I suppose my point is that urban jails are by far more dangerous than rural jails...

Crook County Jail is worse than any prison in the United States as far as violence and that facility can only hold 2500 tops but it's more like 3500.

I suppose my point is that people kill people regardless if they have a gun or the creativity to make a weapon given what they have available to them.

Either way it's disturbing how a man can walk into a place like 26&Cal (cook county) on a weed charge and walk out a killer for defending himself..... But that's the system and how it works... Of course some assholes will say "don't smoke weed."
