Study: Liberals drink more alcohol than conservatives

Well, I'm trying to keep up my end of the bargain, any way.

You got me, and don't mention it to my pastor either, I'd get an earful...

I was raised Catholic and my wife was raised Southern Baptist. When she was pregnant with our son we decided we needed to agree on a church because if you just let a kid pick what they want to be they might go some freak route and end up Hare Krishna or something. So we visited a bunch of different area churches and ended up settling on an Episcopal Church. I remember how astounded my wife was the first time we went to a church function and they were serving beer and wine.

If'n I wouldn't get "churched" for it (Baptist version of excommunicated) I'd suggest the same to my fellow Baptists... a little fruit-of-the-vine goes a long way towards a more relaxed outlook on life!

What's weird is that this would make anyone feel defensive. There's nothing wrong with drinking alcohol. In fact, I feel an impulse to do what I can to help conservatives catch up.

It's probably just an indirect correlation.

Does this thread have any purpose whatsoever other than for conservatives and liberals to insult each other?

I for one, can't have more than one or two drinks because alcohol has a tendency to give me migraines, and I'm actually okay with that. If I can't actually get drunk without being in severe physical pain, I'm very unlikely to do so in the first place. Probably a good thing, since my father's side of the family has a long history of alcoholism.

Its a fun thread based on a quirky study. There is no malice in any of the insults being thrown around. In fact many of them are self-deprecating.

if there's ever a DP convention, we can test this theory firsthand. i will not be the bouncer, however.

So it isn`t a cliche that you Americans hate alcohol?

I saw a study that said Conservatives are less likely to help little old ladies cross the street and more prone to borrowing their neighbors power tools and not return them.

And more likely to be bigots, racists, and go to war, too.

It is widely frowned on in various areas of the country, or viewed with mixed emotions.

Its been my experience that the further North you go, the higher the liquor store and bar density. In Arkansas there is only a handful of wet counties. You can drive nearly a hundred miles in parts of the state without being able to legally buy a beer. In contrast, I have been in Northern Minnesota towns of 500 people with 4 bars. Part of that are the differences in the predominate Christian denominations with a Southern state like Arkansas having a lot of Baptists (Southern, Missionary, Independent, Freewill...everything but American Baptist), Pentecostals, and various other Evangelicals...none of which are big on drinking. While a state like Minnesota is full of Lutherans, Episcopalians and Catholics...all of which are really big on drinking. I think its also just that when its bitterly cold out for months on end what else can you do but drink.

Yup. I still remember my old preacher saying "Whiskeypalians" instead of Episcopalians, heavy on the disdain. :)

I figured out that the Book pretty clearly has nothing against moderate libation, no matter what Mr. Welch may have convinced the 19th century church fathers to believe and pass on.

But I still can't say hello to anyone in the liquor store.

And I've got a bottle of Samuel Adams Boston Lager beside me as I type this.

But I only get that stuff because here in Mississippi, if you ask for a micro-brew, they'll give you a thimble full of Bud...and wine? Down here, boxed wine is considered high-class. That's okay, though - in a few days I'll be back in Puget Sound where hop-heavy micro-brews are ubiquitous, and saying the words "cabernet sauvignon" won't get one punched for sounding like a socialist Francophile.

Have you ever tried fried Umbilical cord? Its kinda like french fries but instead of being made out of potatoes its made from fresh umbilical cords of live Birth babies Usually of Chinese descent because the Chinese people don't believe in using epidurals and various pain killers which could effect the babies nervous system and psychological development. They are a little bit chewy, sort of like eating squid. They never ever use umbilical cords from aborted babies because umbilical cords are to young and have almost zero flavor. The older umbilical cords are so flavorful. Its all that fat growth that helps to give it the flavor. There are also various recipes for placentas aka afterbirths. Placentas are very healthy for you due to high content of antioxidants vitamins and minerals as well as some anti aging blood thinning libido boosting teeth whitening enzymes found in the placenta lining. I tried the placenta milk shake with strawberries so it was actually an in between of milk shake and smoothie, and let me tell you it was a weird texture but had excellent flavor. I was blown away at how much Illegal drugs it had in it. It had some crack cocaine as well as some ecstasy. I think I got addicted because of all that crack. Now it is important to point out that The Placenta smoothie shop did not add crack to my beverage but, the placenta was from a crack baby so there is a mild risk of becoming addicted to various types of drugs via placenta smoothie intake. My health care professional has informed me that this is quite normal and not to be alarmed and that I may experience future symptoms such as mild headaches and uncontrollable bowel blowouts but that in a few days I would be good as new. I was concerned there may be a possibility to catch hepatitis and HIV, as well as various intestinal parasites and the doctor told me that was nonsense and prescribed me some Valium in 10 mg dose to help me calm down and stop hallucinating. So when you go to feed your rabbits you have to remember that sometimes they will bite you when you stick your hand in the cage and sometimes they will pee on you. Pee guards help but rabbits sure to like to give you a good drenching in some ammonia scented rabbit pee. The pills didn't actually help me to not hallucinate but they did calm me down enough to wean myself off the crack baby placenta smoothies. I did some research on placenta shakes and smoothies and it turns out NASA is going to jump on this gravy train due to the enormous financial rewards and also they hope to move forward with research and development of adding stem cells to the drinks to see if it can help cure any illnesses as well as some forms of cancer. Turns out NASA is paying $1750.00 for anyone willing to donate one week of their time to this study. You just drink three shakes a day. That is a guaranteed crack addiction for life. and enough money to buy enough drugs to last a few hours. What a deal!!! So i decided since i was drinking and eating Chinese umbilical cords and placentas I should get into acupuncture. It is however hard to find any literature on this subject so i have just been experimenting on myself and a few friends as well as a neighbors cat. I am still working on needle depth instead of precise placement. I think I am going to deep with the needles, but how do you know for sure? the needles are very long. I have also attempted research on heating the needles with a candle flame as well as electrifying the needles with lower voltage current. Neither method seems to be providing much results. Just as a side note did you know in the united states of America on average 4000 babies are aborted every single day?

A large percentage of people in Nevada are Mormons.
And the border towns are loaded with Utah places every weekend .
People in Nevada drink more than Mormons. Wow.
