In Michigan, Americans for Prosperity is going as far as it can with the conservative claim that President Barack Obama is a communist.An advertisement (pictured above) for a State of the Union watch party in Michigan sponsored by AFP features Obama with the Kremlin in the background. The ad reads "Thank You, Comrade Obama: for Saving the Children from the menace of guns, family, liberty, work, and other outdated values."
The ad seems to be a play off of an communist advertisement featuring Joseph Stalin.

Through executions, gulags, and intentional famines, Joseph Stalin killed over 20 million of his own people. He is easily the most murderous dictator in history (more people died under Mao due to famines, but no one in history has sentenced more people to death than Stalin). He is quite possibly the most brutal dictator in history. Yet Americans for Prosperity thinks that President Obama is somehow comparable??
 
Actually, I think it's pretty clever. Not a great photoshopping, but funny in a way.

It doesnt actually bother me, I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of it. They put the president's head on a guy that was worse than Hitler.

Odd, Mao was a more murderous dictator. I am not shocked that TPM, of all places does not know this.

And Obama is not a communist, that is just silly.

Mao wasn't more of a murderer than Stalin. More people in China died under Mao, but that was more to do with his horrible ideas like the Great Leap Forward and the famines that resulted. Mao was more of a killer due to callous indifference. Stalin however certainly ordered exponentially more death's than Mao. Stalin is the ultimate paranoid dictator, while Mao was the ultimate douchebag dictator.
 
Yeah he's not quite there yet, not a communist either. Not quite a dictator. Let's call him a king for now, you know, bypassing that pesky legislative branch and all that representation of the masses junk.

He uses the NSA, not the KGB. Step below 'ghosting' people...but that doesn't fly in the 21st century (yet).

How many millions of Americans has the NSA pistol whipped into confessing they are an enemy of the state yet? Obama in Stalinist Russia would have been arrested and tortured until he confessed to being a "capitalist roader" and an enemy of the people and subsequently sentenced to the gulags. There is simply not even the tinniest comparison between anything that goes on in the United States and the former USSR under Stalin.

Well the widespread spying is synonymous with KGB. "See something say something" is a nice little parallel that can be drawn.

That being said, he's more of a king than anything.

Probably taken while Michelle was still on extended vacation in Hawaii and after he had gobbled down a big fat juicy burger along with a pile of greasy french fries... then firing up a full pack of Virginia Slims, cause ya know he has come a long way baby...

when frothing hyperpartisans do this kind of stuff, i wonder if they realize how stupid it makes them look. they did it to Bush and Clinton, too. both were drawn up as Hitler.

Stalin killed twenty million Russians and presided over a command economy with no private ownership. Obama has killed four citizens with drones in the WOT, and presides over an economy with historically low marginal rates, and in which ten percent of the population controls seventy five percent of the wealth.

this is not Stalinist Russia. it has never been Stalinist Russia, nor has it ever been Nazi Germany. when you make that comparison, it makes you look stupid.
