MSNBC Cuts Off Congresswoman Talking About NSA To Get To 'Breaking News' About J.B.

Re: MSNBC Cuts Off Congresswoman Talking About NSA To Get To 'Breaking News' About J.

A lot of the time this is actually ordered by the producers.

At least Justin entertains us instead of boring us and riupping us off.

You GO Justin.

No you did not read that wrong, here is the article, Journalism! MSNBC Cuts Off Congresswoman Talking About NSA To Get To 'Breaking News' About Justin Bieber | Techdirt

I have no idea what to say about this beside the stander anti-news rage. So I will ask what was your reaction to this?
I seriously don't see a problem here, Andrea Mitchell clearly said "just for a moment please stand by."

I certainly would want to know why a congress person might want to stop the data mining in preference to better controls.

PS: I don't see MSNBC but do watch their business program CNBC. They would probably not have cut off that type of interview. Why do you think that MSNBC would, other than because the clients think the bad boy more interesting?

I was just kidding. I don't even own a TV and I know who Bieber is but I certainly don't care.

This is a piece of news that will not affect me at all, the info about the NSA will. Justin Bieber can have my attention when something impotent is not going on.

Well, I agree with you, but Mitchell implied she would get back to Jane Harman. Why do you think Andrea Mitchell had Harman on her show? To compare potato latke recipes? lol

I would love to have some potato latkes with garlic sour cream sauce right now.

Me too, that sounds yummy.

To the point of the OP, the blog post in my opinion is an effort to bash MSNBC.

They deserved it. That wasn't breaking news to interrupt a Congresswoman. It was filth and completely inappropriate.

Oh, well, then it makes perfect sense....

Your opinion is noted and slightly inaccurate, she is no longer a Congresswoman, she retired Feb 2011.

Oh, it was Andrea Mitchell. I thought we were discussing a journalist.

Re: MSNBC Cuts Off Congresswoman Talking About NSA To Get To 'Breaking News' About J.

MSNBC has their priorities straight... listen to the Congresswoman talk about the NSA (scandal) or cut her off and go to Justin Bieber... sounds legit to me.

This is MSNBC we're talking about - they get their editorial and story ideas from the DNC, in between the Mother Jones and DailyKos notes.

Correct.

But I'd rather talk about potato pancakes.

Re: MSNBC Cuts Off Congresswoman Talking About NSA To Get To 'Breaking News' About J.

Only one reasonable response:

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...

Correct.

Whatever, I have a wife and daughter who are Jewish. Mitchell and Harman are both Jewish as well.

I wonder if the people who subscribe to Comcast realize they are subsidizing this trash.

It is a private company that runs MSNBC, they can do whatever they want.

And they thought that Bieber would bring in more viewers then the Congresswoman...they are probably right.

It is an unfortunate situation...but I have no problem with what they did.

Well Pete, if you think some entertainer's DUI and drag race is more important than coverage of the NSA, perhaps that says a lot about the standards you demand out of the news media. There is hardly an excuse mentioning the kid's name, let alone breaking coverage throughout the day to ensure us that we know: 1) he was arrested then on the next development: 2) that he arrived at court .....then yet another cut to let us know 3) that he posted bail. This isn't OJ Simpson's Bronco we're talking about here, it's not an important elected official, it's a drunk-drive situation of a pop singer.

Heck, 43 minutes ago, CNN thought this was important enough to let me know that Justin Bieber's BAC was below .08%. Out of all the stuff in the world right now, I get buzzed message about his minor consumption issue on my phone.

They don't care --- I've hated Comcast for years because their cable service is insanely expensive, their internet service horrid (well, the last few years have been okay but before that a nightmare) and where I am, DSL is not an option (23k feet from the Central Office) and Verizon FiOS is not yet available. But even if they all knew - they couldn't care less probably.

So I'm going to guess that you eat some Latkes or potato pancakes once in a while.

I am going to make some soon. Talking about them has made me remember how good they are.

Dang, Speckle? No TV? Holy smokes! I might have an old 378,048 inch LED TV up in my attic. You're welcome to it!
