Satanists Unveil 7-Foot Baphomet Statue For Oklahoma State Capitol

Again WTF

Atheism is disbelief of theism. That is all it is. There is no common view of the universe among atheists for us to cram down anyone's throat. There is no doctrine. There is no ideology. There is no worldview.

The only common thing among atheists is disbelief of theists' claims that a god exists.

I suspect you are referring to science in some way?

For atheists God does not exist and for theists He does. There is no right or wrong answer and atheists need to understand that. In fact it is not even an intellectual argument. You either have it or you don't.

The common view of the universe is that no form of God exists at all. Many try to push their opinions onto other people and attempt to take an intellectual high ground and ridicule all who disagree with them. I'm saying this as an atheist myself, by the way. I accept that my view of the universe cannot yet be proven, and perhaps never will be, and I do not judge people that choose to have faith. Please don't try to act like many atheists are not extremely intolerant and obnoxious. Many of them are just as bad as the religious zealots they hate so much.

For those who have been touched by God their feelings have been satisfied. For those who have not been so touched they tend to not believe it possible. So be it.

Satanism is not a religion, its an occult.

As for atheism...yes, there are quite a few that do everything that they can to cram their own belief down other peoples throats and ridicule anyone that doesn't think the same as them. IE: There is no God. Its one of the very reasons why the Mods seperated the philosophy and religion forum if you want a small example.

Sure, there are belligerent atheists, there's belligerents everywhere one looks. Are you saying that makes atheism a religion?

Religion is a belief in a god/s/ess/es. So nope I'm not. Though I have been entertaining the idea lately that it might just be becoming an occult.

I mean, if we really want to get technical....

Lucifarianism or Satanism....is Christianity/Judeo/whatever. Satan is a judeo/christian concept. Recognizing the same figures as Christians would in turn, sort of imply that they themselves are, kind of christian

Funny if you think about it.

It's a very poor design. C'mon it's Satan, you can let your imagination run wild with the personification of evil.

But this looks like an anthropomorphic hippie Rudolph.

I said atheists were human didn't I? faced with irrational behaviour it can be a trial sometimes.

What does the the question about the possible existence of gods have to do with a view of the universe? It seems to me that adding that just complicates matters uselessly.

However your version of atheism doesn't match mine. I think it is a shame that this happens even among atheists. It is possibly a holdover from when theists were in charge of definitions and dictionaries and it certainly leads to much confusion especially among theists.

I don't understand the purpose of this statue but if it's designed to offend Christians they're more likely to just ignore it. It seems rather juvenile.

Having a religious experience is simialr to a sexual experience in the sense that it really difficult to explain to virgins. In this case the atheists are the virgins.

It will probably offend parents more than anything with those 2 kids at his side.

The idea is to point out how ridiculous it is to have a religious statue paid for by the government. In order to try to not violate the First Amendment, they opened it to ALL religions. Well, all religions are getting in on it.

I think the atheists should give their statue design. Nothing. Just empty space. Now that might get done!

So the point is to demonstrate ridiculousness with more ridiculousness? That must seem like a win-win for the people who installed this statue.

It seems they must have a lot of time on their hands.

that is complete BS.
most atheists were theists before investigating whether their beliefs were rationally justified. They weren't so they stopped believing.

This statue hasn't been installed. It's just a drawing.

Did either of these 'most' you refer to actually have a religious experience or did they simply believe or disbelieve because they were inclined that way? If you are looking for a rational justification rather than a spiritual justification then you won't get anywhere. It's like explaining an orgasm to a virgin. You either understand or you don't.

This is encouraging. I've been working on a 100' monolithic montage of all major and minor gods and goddesses that have influenced mankind since our early days and intend on petitioning my state government to permit its display in our state's capital. . .because it's non-discriminatory.

as rocket88 said the statue is not installed yet.
sometimes, to get through their ultra dense craniums, one has to go to absurd lengths to demonstrate why religions and government should be kept as for apart as possible.

I wish fundamentalist christians were like Gary Christenot. He learned what happens at public school football games when religion is allowed. He found himself standing for a pre-game prayer. Horror of horrors it was a Buddhist prayer.

Don't forget the Native Americans gods!!! That should add a few more.

No your not? Grant you cannot be comparing a god experience with an orgasm, can you? And virgins have had orgasms, I'm pretty sure.

Perhaps it's not as necessary as you think to go to absurd lengths to prove a point. Often that only illustrates the lack of imagination and intelligence of the protester.

Oh, yes, horror of horrors. Did the Buddhists ever forgive him?

I said that trying to explain the experience of either to a virgin is difficult.

And virgins have had orgasms, I'm pretty sure.
Your experience in this regard certainly outweighs mine.

No, he's referring to the fact that atheists jam this one idea down other peoples' throats. Hahahah, you believe in God? You're such a dummy! That kind of thing. And yes, atheists can be just as insufferable as theists.

Satanism is not a religion, its an occult.

What's the functional difference between an occult and a religion, other than being Not Christianity?

Ha ha, you big kidder. But why would it be more difficult to explain an orgasm to a virgin, than a non virgin, I mean, can you explain an orgasm. As to your second point, you should repeat that every time you post me. :)
