It wouldn't make sense to call a tortilla filled with meat a "little burro"
They still eat dogs on many Indian reservations.

Most Mexican food as we know it as today is really Tex-Mex. It's been Americanized.

Before the Europeans arrived there were no beef, pork, chicken or cheese in Mexico. The Mexican diet consisted of maze (corn) beans, squash and peppers. In 1860 there was still only one dairy in the entire country of Mexico. It was owned by a German immigrant who was the only source for cheese.

Hogs were raised for only one purpose in Mexico, lard. Mexicans didn't start eating pork until the late 1800's. Lard was used for only two things, cooking and for greasing the hair. That's where the term greaser comes from.

Chili con carne was created by a German immigrant in Texas during the 1800's..

If you ate a Jack in the Box taco during the late 70's or early 80's, the meat had kangaroo meat in it.

Burro meat isn't bad. Most Americans can't tell the difference between beef and horse meat.

Have you ever drove my a wind farm and noticed all of those Tyson chicken trucks ?

I suppose anyone who ever ate one of Jacks tacos during the 70's or first half of the 80's can claim they have eaten kangaroo meat.

Back then Jack in the Box use to get their taco filler meat from Australia. Unknown to them at the time the Aussies were mixing kangaroo meat into the ground beef.

Jack's tacos back then were pretty good.

It seems to me that a lot of people determine their acceptance of eating animals based on how cute that animal is. I've got some facebook acquaintances who constantly spam links about how terrible it is that people are killing and eating horses, and then they'll turn around and post a picture of themselves eating a burger at a backyard cookout.

There certainly is truth to what you said. I guess it's what we grow up accustomed to. As Lewis and Clark led the Corp of Descovery west they continued to encounter new game, game that those Virginia boys had never seen or tasted. Elk, prong horn, buffalo and mule deer. But they recorded in their journals that their second favorite was the beaver tail, a gelatinous cartilage like piece of meat. And their favorite, was dog. Yep introduced to them by one of the Indian tribes they encountered.
