Feds charge white man with hate crime in first ‘knockout’ prosecution

There are nonpartisan elections?

Centrist means away from both parties (logically), but in reality it simply means left of the right and right of the left which is still quite left.

Right of the left is still left! Puh-leeze.

 you just reinforced everything I've ever said about Righties. TO them, anyone to the Left of Newt Gingrich is a Liberal.

Policies are left or right. People support policies. Policies, not people is the issue here.

So there is no left-right?

Of course there is left and right. Are you capable of having an honest discussion without twisting people's words? It's pretty much all I've seen you do.

You said centrist (left of the right) is still "pretty left." Which means that the "center" has been pushed "left," which simply isn't so in this country -- at least not in matters of the economy, security or defense. I'd say the only way the "center" has been pushed "left" is socially, with more acceptance of gays and (moderately) better treatment of minorities.

A belief that one is a centrist does not alter anything. A self-labeling is completely irrelevant to the left-right policy line. The policies are left or right, and support of policies moves you left or right.

And many times that's subjective.

I do not understand the obsessive need some people have to label others "left" or "right," as if that accomplishes anything other than using someone's lean as a pejorative.

You are starting to get it, yes.

Totalitarianism is left, absolutely no state is right. Very simple.

Not all totalitarianism is "left." You're looking at it as a line rather than a pair of axes. You ever take the Political Compass test before?

Very simple.

Yes, your observations of the world are very simple.

I would call them extremely simple-minded, in fact, the sort of stuff a child might offer.

Just tilt it, and you have what you are looking for. In this case, the absolute bottom is right, the absolute top is left.

Far from it. Actually, I support a lot of Right leaning ideas, but I hate the people who call the Right their home: the religious nuts, the homophobes, the racists, and the greedy. To name a few.

Christianity, statism, there is no material difference in the faith needed to support either.

And again, self-labeling yourself is irrelevant to actual left-right labeling.

In other words, "you're not what you say you are, you're what I say you are."

I don't think you could be more wrong, either about that or about "tilting" the compass. You're just wrong.

No, you seem to think so.

Irrelevant of me or you, is how actual labeling works. You can call yourself anything you want, it just has no relevance to what you actually are. As Carlin said, your name can be spelled s-m-i-t-h, and you can pronounce it Janovski if you want to.

Except the constitution separates religion from state. Let's put it this way, when the Chritianists back off their unconstitutional demands or simply let the Satanists lecture in the schools along side the Jesus freaks, I'll buy that they are not infringing on the we'll have no establishment clause. Until then, I'll consider their demands to hang the Ten Commandments on the courthouse walls as a violation of the constitution.

gobley-guk...wut?

What-the-****-ever.

Faith in the state is not materially different from faith in god.

As Carlin said, your name can be spelled s-m-i-t-h, and you can pronounce it Janovski if you want to.

Like I said, I took his meaning to be: "You're not what you say you are, you're what I say you are."

You took it wrong.

Except the state is real while god is make believe.

As Carlin said, your name can be spelled s-m-i-t-h, and you can pronounce it Janovski if you want to.
And freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose...

wtf is your point? Or do you not have one?

Sure bud, the state is all powerful and all knowing (to you).

It is the most to lose.

You can call yourself whatever you want, but it has no relevance to facts or truth.

Uh. No. Read what I wrote again. I said one is real, the other is make believe.

Sure it does. I get into disagreements with people on the Left often enough to know that I am not on the Left. However, I noticed that those on the Right are much more...dedicated to their delusions than any Lefty I ever met or debated against. Left leaning people tend to listen to counterpoints and read facts presented to them. Well, except the feminists. They seem to be in their own world. They are like Righties in that regard.

So there are problems that state regulation cannot fix?

But "listening" to others has nothing to do with actual left-right placement.
