Meh, it's worth a day's outrage until folks realize A&E is profitting from both ends. However, part of the debate centers around why A&E and others who have used this tactic use this tactic. AND why people care.

you have to be several shades of moron to believe A&E isn't going to film next season of their most popular show.
Tell that to the moron Paula Deen.
The food network stuck to their principals, and she, like Phil is also ... done.
Duck Dynasty will be shot next year ... the remaining players are under contract to do so. A&E hold all the cards.
Phil the asshole will sit the season out until his contract lapses. When it is not renewed, it can then be said that he has been fired.

So we are liking the Welfare state now??? It allows for one man, one woman marriage with no need for the dead man's brother to care for the widow??? strange days indeed....

Oh a few corrections, the Ancient Hebrews didn't 'marry' their dead brother's wife, they MARRIED them. They also took multiple wives while their brothers were alive and kicking. They also had concubines, some given to them by God. Solomon is said to have 700 wives... did he have THAT many dead brothers???

The Mormon Church claims God spoke to them and restored the 'old ways' which included polygamy, but not as a welfare mechanism, more a rapid way to expand the number of church members.

A&E made a calculated and smart business decision.
They own one of the hottest properties in television history and they are managing it with a good business acumen.
They have rid the show of controversy while maintaining control of the primary players.
The brothers will continue to tape the show and A&E will continue their profitable program and come out smelling like a rose.

The Deen thing was entirely different and the food network was trying to avoid being caught up in legal consequences. None of that exists here with Phil. And you're wrong, the rest are not on contract and are not doing the show without Phil. Not only will all their contracts be renewed after film hiatus, but they'll all, including Phil get a raise. Ratings are through the roof for the show and as mentioned the two largest sponsors have aligned with Phil.

Damn… and I am tired of Duck Dynasty. As soon as the Kardashians seemed to start fading, these guys came along and got blown out of proportion.

I think they should make a chica pet of Kim's ass though. That's more entertaining than watching the duckies grow beards.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

False as I've already addressed. And you don't seem to understand that the show is not where the principles make their fortune. The Robertsons are already quite wealthy from their own efforts. If you had ever watched the show you'd know that already.
