Politifact’s top four choices for this year’s biggest lies by a U.S. political figure all involved Obamacare, but it may surprise you who made No. 1.

President Obama’s repeated mantra that Americans could keep their health care plan of choice was bad enough, but it was worse when he modified the lie with a disclaimer, Politifact’s editor told CNN.

“What we said was you could keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law passed,” Obama said in November, earning Politifact’s “pants on fire” distinction.

There it is, it's certified.

I imagine that they had a hard time deciding from the hundreds of "pants-on-fire" lies coming out of DC, which ones would make the top 4...

Are they just gonna keep saying all the bad things Obama did and then forget about it and do nothing about it?

Why isn't Congress taking steps to impeach Obama and have him removed from office?

Obama makes Richard Nixon look like Abe Lincoln by comparison.

Hm. It should be no problem trying t impeach him then. Where are all the Tea Party Republicans trying to impeach Obama? I'm sure if they have a strong case on the matter, they will have no problem impeaching. Right?

Because the Democrats control the Senate and they wouldn't find Obama guilty if he sent warplanes to napalm the United States. To the Democrats, nothing surpasses maintaining their Socialist agenda and destroying the country they hate so much.

Prolly the same reason why they didn't do it to Bush. Therefore watch for worse behavior yet from presidents going forward. Only when partisans stop talking about their crow is the blackest crow, will presidents be held accountable.

I watched the video and agree with all 4 nominees. But whether it is Obama, Cruz, Bachman, what is sad is that all of our politicians lie to us to push their own agenda on us and to get us to agree to go along with them. Politicians now rank below lawyers when it comes to honesty. They are second to last in a recent gallup poll dealing with honesty, right above lobbyist. Only 8% believe believe politicians are honest, 6% Lobbyist. Both are below used car salesmen who came in at 9%. Lawyers were tied with TV reporters with 20% 5th and 6th from the bottom.

I don't know, is the healthcare lie worse than the Afghanistan one? Eleven more years of Afghanistan sounds pretty bad…

the impeachment process is very very complicated. secondly the president has to have committed what we call high crimes against the office or the US.
obama simply hasn't done that or done anything in the degree that would be considered high crimes.

the house votes whether or not to impeach the president. i think it takes a 2/3 rds majority. it is up to the senate to vote on a removal from office. that will never happen
under harry reid.

same thing happened to clinton he was impeached but failed to be removed from office. really to even start that process is just intensive and it doesn't accomplish much.

actually they tried to impeach bush. i forget which democrat introduced the impeachment process in a bill, but it was tabled about as fast as it was introduced. it was the alien space ship rep that ran for president kinsinich or something like that.

Oh dear lord.

Obama's best protection is Joe Biden.

Eleven years versus the rest of your life, I dunno, that is a tough one:roll:

The funny thing is that Politifact has essentially given itself the "lie of the year award" too as they twice supported this claim in previous fact checks.

Really? That's not cool.

Really? That's not cool.

Actually three times:

First time was in 2008

Then in 2012 they gave a "Half True" on the grounds that Obama's plan "takes pains to let people keep their coverage" when, in fact, the opposite was true. In fact the "grandfather" rule insured that millions would be losing their insurance.

Finally they called Romney a Liar in 2012 for telling the truth that it would cost millions their insurance on the hopey changey excuse that millions would be jumping on ACA because they preferred it.

I hate Mitt Romney. Let that be clear. However...

But in this instance he shouldn't have been called a liar on this one issue. It turned out to be a true statement Romney made but that's because only one study predicted up to 20 million. Romney told the truth but by accident. I guess that's the only way that lying sack of **** would ever tell the truth, but it was the truth all the same.

But are you suggesting that at the time they 'knew' these things not to be so.

Are you saying I am making the mistake of assuming a base level of competency on their part? Even then passing ignorant assumptions off as verified facts is just another form of lying.

No. I'm not accusing you of anything.

Yeah, both other major factcheckers were far more negative towards Obama's comment than Politifact was
