Ted Cruz Walks Out Of Nelson Mandela Memorial Service In Protest

I think the current trend and it is going the Republicans way is caused by the ACA. Even in most Democratic age group 18-29 are not opposed to it. Independents are opposed to it by a 35 to 61% margin. Unless somehow Democrats can get the public attention off the ACA 2014 may not be very kind to them. Even party affiliation for the Republicans is climbing back up. See below:

Even the generic congressional race has swing from an 8 point Democratic Advantage to a 2 point Republican one. The ACA is definitely dragging down the Democrats, IMO anyhow.
 
Two-thirds of americans want the ACA to be fixed and work well, not to be recalled..
Only 26% want the ACA repealed..
Each new day sets the GOP back further into negativity on ACA, truth be damned .

Cruz was probably networking. It's no secret he plans to run for president of the United States, why wouldn't he want to meet world leaders and possibly gain their support?

The big question is why was Obama there, besides trying to meet girls.

Gallup 37% in favor 52% against with 20% wanting it scaled back and 32% repealed of those opposed. I still think the ACA is a losing proposition for the Democrats.

1. It wasn't a funeral, it was a memorial service.
2. It was a four-hour long celebration of Mandela's life, not a solemn affair.
3. It was during a break in the service.
4. He was asked to do it.

There's plenty of things to go after Obama for. This isn't one of them.

Seems he was pretty darned prescient regarding the Obamacare nightmare though, wasn't he? Would have been better for us all if he had been successful... ask all those that will be affected very negatively.

And reading his kids a bedtime story when he couldn't be there with them in person... I guess in liberal world, that might be some sort of blasphemy?

Was worth it. Spend a few [plain chump change by lib standards of waste ]dollars in a bid to save a whole bunch more dollars, in the billions, tens... way more... When nobody [ well maybe Mike Lee, Rand or Marco every so often ] else is even looking to do the right thing?

Got the focus on what it should be, on this mon-flopping-strosity of Obamacare; a last ditch try/warning, certainly an audio visual beware out therecried iton the wilderness about this ugly broken, and keeps breaking, beast just before its failed rollout. Really? Is that the best you can do? That was a little weak.

As for Obamacare...there's a lot of that will need to be fixed. The biggest problem with it is the Republican/Heritage foundation idea of the mandate. That is the biggest thing causing the problems...single payer would be best or even the public option, but we'll get there eventually.

the mandate is essential to the plans functionality. You can't separate the two

Yes and no. The public option would have been a much better program and wouldn't have had all the problems inherent in the mandate. Because the party of NO refused to even seriously work on health care and because a handful of bluedogs wouldn't vote for the public option, we got the basic Republican plan....its a start, but it needs to be taken further.
