The NSA's Reach Might Be Even Bigger Than We Thought

Must be a whole lot of people making **** up then.

Statists and authoritarians, those against the pressing necessity to keep freedom, will always argue that you should just trust the government because it's doing what's best for us all.

The very first guys that put this whole program together told us that wasn't the case and that by its nature government is progressive and it requires diligence to maintain and retain a democratic republic. As Ben F. said, "you have received a democratic republic if you can hold onto it madam". But we shouldn't mention the designers, we may be accused of worship, you know.

Exactly they did, one of the largest lessons pushed by the founders was that government is not to be trusted, a necessary evil yes; but an evil none the less. Watch and constrain, only through our attention and dilligence may the Republic be preserved. And yet you see the statists and the authoritarians telling us "nothing to see here, move along" all the time. And their cadence towards slavery echoes louder now than ever before. Fear, fear keeps them in line; but fear is misplaced. It is not The People who should fear the government, but the other way around. Only then can they remember their duty to the People and our rights.

Snowden has 1.7 million documents, only a couple hundred thousand have been disclosed at present. The Gaurdian made clear back at the beginning that nothing they disclosed would jeopardize national security, nor have they. As with Manning, disclosures are damaging only to the the governments credibility because they document, key word there, wrong doing on the Governments part. Robert Gates has stated such. CNN is reporting that the NSA is very concerned about the remaining documents that Snowden has. Man does he ever need an army of body guards. Of course the NSA is demanding that red herring that further disclosures will harm national security. But Americans are pretty well fed up with the government concealing wrong doing on that basis that generally isn't true.

Well the NSA isn't less concerned. A top NSA official said today amnesty for Snowden is a possibility!!

You're making up knowledge of the entire system. You do not know. You pretend to know, you tell everyone you know; but you do not. As I said, at very best your claim is just as dubious a claim as you say others have when talking of NSA action.

I certainly know the system much better than you do. So why do you pretend to know it all? I have a lot of experience and I'm telling you how it is. You have none. Your only fall back is "you don't have perfect knowledge" which isn't a good argument at all when you have none. Like literally any insult you could make towards my knowledge base applies to you on an exponentially greater scale.

I don't, I say allegations as such must be investigated and the government restrained to its proper limitations. You're the one claiming knowledge, saying this isn't happening and people are paranoid, and blah blah blah. Just a "nothing to see here" comment from someone pretending to have all the access still to this day. You don't know.

lol whatever fires you up. Continue to whine about something you have no proof of happening.

NSA's in trouble. Lets keep the pressure up.

How? You do know what the NSA does, don't you? lol, this could be extremely hilarious...do you even know why you're upset?

We've gone over this already.

We've gone over this already.

So you're upset that the NSA stores the metadata that phone companies already have and you think that constitutes spying? This is fanatastic lol

Yeah, because that's all they do.

Yeah, because that's all they do.

Hahaha. I asked you to be more specific! What is it that makes you just so angry? Not things you think they might do our that you can imagine they do, but actually do.

Who said I was angry?

Who said I was angry?

Good, I'm glad you've arrived at peace. Let us rejoice in the phone records showing my IMSI and IMEI accessing this website's IPv6 address and realize that keeping that information isn't spying, no matter how much people whine about it. Goodnight!

But it is spying.

But it is spying.

wtf? Wow, then yes, everyone is spying on you. There's nothing special about the NSA doing it. You have a fundamentally different definition of spying than...anyone I've ever met. Are you mad about your phone company spying on you? The cashier at the store seeing your credit card info and sharing it with the phone company and infrastructure owners (not usually the same thing) while giving it your credit card people information about your exact whereabouts at that given time when you made the purchase.

That's some tinfoil hat stuff, that's crazy as hell.

One cannot track all of the connections of a particular simcard without constant access to it. Searching a list of connections for that number is not a violation of rights. It's not "collecting millions of peoples phone records", it's searching a list of connections.

How is that the private citizens fault or responsibility? Oh wait....its not.

And yes, it IS a violation of privacy as the government has no need of that information whether its as minimal amount as you think that it is or more. The government has no business knowing my or any one elses connnections unless they are tracking an individual who is a terrorist. My connections are just that...mine. Not the governments. Not yours. Not Joe Blows down the street. Mine. No one has the need to know them except me and the person I am connected with.
