    NOTE THE LAST SENTENCE ESPECIALLY.

So why would China still support North Korea, despite all its recent misgivings? China’s policy for the Korean peninsula can be summed up in six little words: “No war, no instability, no nukes.” Those are Beijing’s priorities, and in that order. Chinese leaders don’t want nukes, which is why they’re upset about Pyongyang’s recent nuclear brinksmanship. But even more than that, they don’t want the North Korean state to collapse into chaos or devolve into war, and they know that economic support and cross-border trade are good ways to maintain the status quo. And it’s the status quo that China appears most interested in.

??? While I agree that NK is a liability for China (& China views them that way as well, but the NK still serves a purpose for them), the majority of the population is likely to go South. And smartly, the South Koreans actually have plans for that. They do anticipate it and for every NK person that escapes (and almost all escape THRU China), the SK govt takes them in hand, spends govt funds on acclimating them to the new country, and gives them $20,000 (back in 2010) to start new lives. Then they track their progress based on the programs they offer them, how they adapt socially, where they succeed and fail, etc. This way, they continually update their programs to what works most efficiently.

No problem I have talked to a NK refugee that country is all kinds of bad. starvation is actually rampet and to be honest china, SK and vietnam does secretly helps these people while trying to deal with NK internally without starting an all out war. the way asia sees NK as a very desperate little man with a gun. we all know what people do when they are desperate. so asia is calmly trying to ease NK down rather then making him desperate enough to start shooting

Vietnam is moving in the right direction and I am so so happy that they are working so hard to fix these things. (To be honest we were lacking some human rights)

I hope you don't mind me throwing out some news about vietnam Since I obviously follow it quite a bit It's really progressed quite well in quite a short time period maybe america can learn something from it? :P but probely not
No problem, I have always been thankful to Vietnam when they went into Cambodia in 1978 and stopped the killing fields of Pol Pot.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

It still doesn't excuse the atrocities committed by the Vietnamese Communists.

All I hear is how wonderful the Vietnamese Communists are; norhing about their own atrocities and certainly no mention that the Vietnames Communists helped the Khmer Rouge get cranked up.

Putring Vietnam on the UN Human Rights Council is a joke.

And America's skirts are clean? Who put us on a pedestal and why should we be there?
