Eyewitnesses said Hsiao could be heard telling his girlfriend that they already had more bags than they could carry, but she insisted on hitting one more store where there was a sale on shoes.

An eyewitness said: "He told her she already had enough shoes, more shoes that she could wear in a lifetime, and it was pointless buying any more. She started shouting at him, accusing him of being a skinflint, and of spoiling Christmas. It was a really heated argument."

The argument continued until Hsiao threw the bags on the floor and himself over the balcony, dropping seven stories to his death and smashing Christmas decorations on the way down. He was killed on impact.

Should have just taken the bags, found a bar, and let her find him when she was done. I mean jumping to your death because of shopping? A bit of an overreaction if true.

I don't believe that I'll ever do what this poor guy did but I totally understand what was going through his head.

I wonder if his girlfriend learned anything from this sad experience.

I can say I felt like that many times. I hate shopping. I go into a store, get exactly what I need and get the heck out. Any shopping more than 10-15 minutes is shopping way too much. If the wife wants to shop, she goes with one of our daughters, not with me. I am good at letting loose my chickman's call right there in the middle of the store if I figure we had been there long enough.

What is it with women and shopping? How can anyone enjoy going to a crowed store, look at everything four times, change their mind three times and take 18 hours doing it. Then I have to listen to them complain if they have to spend more than a couple of minutes in line when it is time to check out. Crazy, just plain crazy.
