U.S. needs millions more to complete Afghanistan’s ‘Pentagon’ - The Washington Post'the Defense Ministry building is a dramatic example of how poor oversight continues to plague the massive U.S. investment here.
The 516,000-square-foot building is part of a multi-year, $9.3 billion construction spree aimed at providing hundreds of bases, outposts and hospitals for the Afghan military. Nearly all of it is financed by the U.S. government.
But even though most American troops are scheduled to withdraw from the country by late next year, 291 projects remain in the planning stages or under construction; 835 are complete.
last I read there will be US bases too (training/support); ISAF forces will supposedly be restricted, but who knows?
Sure looks like our withdrawl is a costly one. Didn't we do this in Iraq before we got kicked out
(Obama unable to get immunity for that SOFA agreement) ??
Maybe we'll be lucky and just spend a bunch more wasted money in that "Graveyard of the Empires", and not any more blood.
Kick US out!! PLEASE!!!
