Of course. When a con or etc does it, it will be condemned by the same man. Some are more equal than others I suppose. Damn us all to hell.

Somewhere or another I recall hearing that Microsoft had reached a gentleman's agreement with the CIA not to enhance their encryption significantly beyond the level they were at as MS wanted the embargo gone to up sales and the CIA did not want bad guys being beyond their electronic reach. It created a long lag between 128 and 256 bit encryption. I am guessing that a 384 or 512 bit encryption as standard out of the box software would throw a huge wrench in the intelligence world's current methods.

    Blah, blah, blah.

This is all, IMO, just a smoke screen to appease the ignorant, gullible masses.

They will have committees and groups and they will come out with all these cozy sounding findings and recommendations that they will 'immediately implement'.

But in the end, all that will happen is they will bury the NSA deeper into the government.

I tell you one thing they will change...they will make it a lot harder for heroes like Edward Snowden to tell the public what really goes on...that is the only real change that will occur.

The government LOVES all this NSA surveillance - if they could get away with a TON more, they would in a heartbeat.
Major federal politicians from both parties find the Constitution an annoyance - something that stops them from doing what they want to do...which is anything they feel like under the guise of 'whatever we do - ANYTHING - is always in America's best interests because we ALWAYS know what is best for America'.
