Oh, I see what you are claiming. What I am pointing out to you that what you are claiming is silly. It is the invasion of a place in our society where politics does not belong that is the crass, rude, pushy refusal-to-accept-that-some-things-belong-outside-the-state, here, not the idea that campaigns should be pushing people having weddings and beginning their married lives together, vice people doing Christmas Shopping.

Funny, I don't remember this kind of outrage when Obama did it during his election campaign. Does anyone remember kids sending in their allowance to support him?

It's not silly, it's an important distinction.

I agree, I don't think it's all that appropriate, but one is far less odious. One is asking for yourself, the other is attempting to donate for someone else, which is just much more crass.

Of course, a difference between this and the Obama Event Registry is that Laura Wilson hasn't been fired.

.....no. The distinction is immaterial - as important as the color of the background of the message. Both seek to pressure people to prioritize politics over more important familial things. Frankly, given the relative importance, I'm not sure an argument couldn't be made that trying to invade someone's wedding is more odious than trying to invade someone's Christmas Shopping, but... I'm fine simply saying both are crass attempts to shove politics where it does not belong.

But according to notquiteright this is a devious plan unleashed by Scott Walker himself to deny children all over the world of their Christmas.

But the joke is on Walker because when all the Whos in Whoville start singing on Christmas day he will finally realize that the true meaning of Christmas isn't the whozonkers, dardinkers and roast beast.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. This has nothing to do with Obama being a Dem, because assuming one shares your political views and instead of giving them a Christmas gift you donate to a political campaign in their name, one which they may not support, is much more crass, because you are putting your wants over theirs, where when it is flipped, that does not occur.

That's right folks! Gov. Walker (Rep) of Wisconsin wants you to send that money you planned to spend for toys, to his political campaign. This is what the campaign email said:

    Just... wow.
Where's he say, "send it to me"?

Wherein you're asking someone to donate their money to a political cause they may not agree with, as opposed to using your own money to do so?
