Pippi Longstocking and 6 other supposedly racist children's characters

    OMFG!

    Say it ain't so, Pippi
Books like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn have long been banned in many schools and libraries over alleged racism. Could Pippi Longstocking be next? According to one theologian, Astrid Lindgren's classic children's novels about the pig-tailed adventurer feature unsavory "colonial racist stereotypes." Pippi joins a long list of surprising children's characters who have been accused of racism. From Babar to the Smurfs, here's a look:

    Ridiculous.
Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can sit in a boat, drinking beer all day while you fool around with his Woman.

I remember a few Little Rascal episodes that were blatantly racist, however they must be viewed within the proper context.

People need to grow the hell up.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

OMG. I loved Pippi and had many unprintable fantasies about her when I was 8 or 9 years old.

Well, they say that history is written by the victorious.

    Sigh™

Don't you know all literary works, history especially US, is all racist. All white people, unless you marry a black are racist. All laws are racist. Just look how many innocent blacks are in jail.

Having tribes of black children abasing themselves at the feet of a blonde white nordic child isn't a problem....

Re: Pippi Longstocking and 6 other supposedly racist children's characters

I have seen some children's books that date to 1900 that are racist. There was one series from that time called "Little Black Sambo" That should not be in any library. Just have to use common sense when drawing that line
