eh, even if it is a typical corporate PR move, good on them. they could have just as easily not done the right thing in this case.
And I, for one, am good with that. People do it for the same reasons, not to mention the "warm feeling inside" when they give to someone else. That's just as much of a "for me" move as any.
I never got the point of putting scrutiny on donating. Some people just need to be angry about something.

All jobs require sacrifice and fulfilling unwanted demands. Working a non-religious holiday doesn't seem all that evil.
During the time that I worked for this company, labor productivity fell twice and the company ceased to generate income. Survives only by subsidies from the Coca-Cola International.
