Why that day? Does this go for all federal holy days, state holy days and other religious/ethnic holy days too? Can I be "forced" to work on my birthday?

You can be "forced" to work any day you agree to on getting hired.

Days that are on my blackout list, days I CANT request off are...

    Labor Day
    Memorial Day
    Halloween
    Thanksgiving
    Black Friday
Christmas, actually, the entire months of November and December
    New Years

And this is why the invisible hand is not self sufficient to safeguard ourselves, why we require regulation and laws applying to production and labor.

So you're gonna make it illegal to work on Thanksgiving? Some people WANT to work holidays, they need/want the money.

am i going to have to explain this to every libertarian on the site individually? ok. this is it.

Thanksgiving and Christmas, as you know, are cultural family holidays. as i've said five hundred and forty two thousand times already in this ****ing thread, if somebody wants to spend the damned ****ing day with his or her family, they should be able to. others who want to work should be able to do that.

treating workers like **** leads to unions. corporatists hate unions like ten year olds hate brussel sprouts. want to prevent unions? treat your workers like human ****ing beings. it really doesn't take that much.

    ok, i feel better now.

Nobody is forced to work any day in this country, including those days. If someone doesnt like the policies of a company, they can go down the road to another company.

And all of those policies should be up to the employer. If they want people to work on holidays, they can set that standard. Dont like it? Dont work there?

A day is 24 hours, a work shift is usually 8 hours or 1/2 the awake portion of that day. What of the countless non-retail (essential?) employees that work on these two (of ten?) "family" holidays? What of the military personnel that spend months away from family on deployment - to give you the right to make this silly complaint?
