MSNBC fires Baldwin over anti-gay slurs

Exactly why i chose that word. Should be able to take what he dishes out. Maybe i should stoop to his level and call him a "********ing f----" next time i see him.

If you wanted to personally make him one, I won't hold it against you. I'll even supply the videocamera and ether.

TMZ would give me a fortune for the tape.

Unless you're an abortion banner talking about a pro-choicer. Then it's OK to compare them to the Nazis and argue that they should be jailed for life or executed.

Which is A-OK because it doesn't involve poop!

What inflammatory, dumb remarks, and I don't know why you bothered to quote me when you aren't responding to what I said.

Of course you don't know why

The Sanctimonious believe that they are the Supreme Arbiters of Morality, and if they say that poop goes too far, then that's how it is. And if they compare people who disagree with them with the Holocaust or serial killers, then that is not going too far.

Is this the same MSNBC who said dick all about Martin Bashir's comments?

Guess if you attack a conservative brand, good for you - attack a liberal brand, they can't show you the door fast enough.

But that said, MSNBC knows full well they have zero conservative viewers and precious few liberal viewers so keep the only viewers you have happy - it's good business practice.
My point, perhaps not well explained, was that gays are generally liberal in their views and MSNBC caters to liberals, so any attack on MSNBC's target audience can't be condoned - Bashir, on the other hand, targetted the great liberal Satin, Sarah Palin, so all is good, no harm done.
It seems you and Alec are on the same page.

Alec Baldwin, Fired by MSNBC, Asks Why Not Martin Bashir?

Baldwin came under fire for allegedly using a gay slur against a photographer on the street, while Bashir called for Republican tea party favorite Sarah Palin to be administered unprintable punishments from the days of slavery. Bashir's remarks were scripted and made it onto his program.

"Martin Bashir's on the air, and he made his comment on the air! I dispute half the comment I made," Baldwin told Gothamist.

Baldwin acknowledged using profanity during his verbal attack, but insisted he did not use a gay slur. Bashir made his comments on a Friday show and apologized the next Monday. MSNBC has made no comment about punishing him.

Alec Baldwin is awesome. One of my favorite actors. You guys just don't get his sense of humor.

Why NOT Martin Bashir?

I didn't think it would be long before Baldwin said "But what about him"

I don't give a rat's ass about his life behind the scenes... all that I care about is that the guy is ****ing hilarious and makes me laugh.

Bashir gets more of a pass than Baldwin because Baldwin attacked gays, while Bashir makes defecation requests targeting conservatives.

It's the same reasoning behind why Juan Williams would get fired for making disparaging comments about Cheney before he would for saying the same things about Pelosi.

Know your audience.

Imagine that a person saying something bad about another person here in America! I have never heard of such a thing! What is this country coming to?

He attacked a bad "protected" group. That cut into MSNBC's profits. If he had said ridiculous, absurd comments about conservatives, Palin, or pro-lifers he'd still have a job.

Sometimes I think that Democrats and liberals don't really give a damn about gays, but just keep the Big Tent open for them so they can have more numbers for rally purposes. They do the same thing for blacks.

You guys piss and moan when people aren't sanctioned to your satisfaction; when one is sanctioned as bad as he can be, you make up hypotheticals and go on your usual anti-liberal screed.

The truth is the truth, no matter how inconvenient it is for you. The left hates everybody except to the extent that they can use them.

There's that strawman again.

Who or what is "the left?"

Any time someone claims "the left" does this, or "the left" does that, as if it's a hive mind, you can rest assured that person is 100% wrong, 100% of the time.

Oh, I think he's a good actor. But not good enough to pretend that he's an adult who's able to control himself. The public temper tantrums are sad in a person his age. His employer apparently realized that he's too great a liability, and I hope the shock convinces Baldwin to enter into therapy for realz.

That doesn't explain, though, why that same employer hasn't disciplined Bashir for his appalling on-air comment about Sarah Palin. What hypocrisy.

He had to apologize on air. He likely wasn't suspended because it was his "first offense."

There's that strawman again.

Perhaps you should learn what the term means if you are insistent on using it....

Perhaps you should learn what the term means if you are insistent on using it....

A strawman is a fallacy based on an intentional misrepresentation of your opponents' position. Which is exactly what you're doing when you claim "the left" hates everybody.

Perhaps you should learn what the term means if you are insistent on using it....
Perhaps people should stop using the phrase "the left", it's a generalization.
