Anyway, Bill is obviously doing this to lay groundwork for Hillary's distance from the ACA during her presidential campaign. She wanted single payer and backed down when private business was threatened/infringed implicitly via regs.

I will tell you something else here, the way I see it if you voted for the ACA and backed the president on the ACA until last week, you ought to continue to back the ACA and not start to desert. After all, these senators, Landrieu, Pryor, Hagan, Begich and the rest who voted for it are responsible for it. Just because the president slides down in the approval ratings is no reason to abandon him. It usually doesn't work anyway.

If those 4 and others were loyal to the wishes of the people of their states, to the people who sent them to Washington in the first place, they would have voted Nay back in 2010. Running away from that vote is not right, at least in my eyes. I may not like the politics of a Schummer or a Sanders, but at least they vote the way the people of their state expects them to vote and they stick with their convictions. For that they have my respect, but I still think their politics stinks.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

You can't do that.... to vote as a representative of your constituents would be sooooooooooooo old fashioned!

Going to be hard for her to distance herself from it when the individual mandate was originally what Obama ran against her on. I could be mistaken but the current ACA sounds more like what Clinton ran on rather than Obama. When Obama ran against her I remember him constantly saying the plan should be something people wanted to buy and not forced into like her plan would do.

It is even sadder when people use mistakes to rise above the President by generally ignoring everything else Clinton did. What is such a "dishonorable" mistake anyway?

Good morning Pero - you're absolutely right. We have to remember that about 65 House Democrats went down to defeat in 2010 because of their vote for the ACA and they didn't turtle and desert the bill or the President when they got flack at home - they stood up for their vote and suffered the consequences. I'll always remember the pro-life Pennsylvannia Democrat Representative, although I can't remember his name right now, who let a pro-life type Democrat caucus in the House who resisted the ACA until the last minute because the President made promises that the ACA would not force those who oppose abortion to offer or support contraception and abortion services. He looked truly troubled when he cast his vote for the bill and as it turns out the President betrayed him too. He subsequently chose not to run for reelection, perhaps feeling he'd let his constituents down.

Gee I hope they dont change their mind. I am more than a little worried about the mindless Obama supporters the have already contorted themselves into a position of defense of the president, claiming that the lie doesnt matter because really, after all, the government is saving many millions of people from bad policies. Now...if he changes his mind, well...they are going to have to justify THAT as well. Some people could hurt themselves.

These days, the Politicians tell us how they are going to vote and the people spout the talking points and support it.
Spouting their parties rhetoric, slogans, talking points, etc is exactly what you see on this site from most. Its like the RNC or the DNC has a laser beam directed at their brain to tell their finger what to type. I wonder how many people actually disagreed with only one issue or stance their party took.

It wasn't that long ago where where most representatives and senators did vote their constutients and states wishes at least on the big things. The smaller and more minor things they followed party line. But most listened to what the people said. Not anymore.
