Do they have an education? Have they made good decisions in their lives? Minimum wage jobs are intended for kids who still live at home and are going to school. They are not intended as a living wage.

I'd like to see a minimum WEEKLY wage. The current $7.25 is OK enough. So, the minimum weekly wage would be $300. That will bring this using people part time **** to a screeching halt and no actual cost will increase.

Poverty is oppressive and as a child born into that your work to build a better life is already profoundly more difficult then someone who does not have those challenges to overcome. I do not see the benefit, other than to protect what you consider yours, in denying these people those basic things. Minimum wage jobs are not just for college students and high school kids anymore, people raise children on those wages, or at least attempt to.
50 years and trillions of dollars has only produced more poor people.

Cut welfare benefits to below what average minimum wage is.

Instead, a lot of them are going to college grads who are deeply in debt that they can't pay.

That's what happens when you get a crappy degree with no job prospects and have spent all of your life to date in a classroom without ever having a job with which to develop job skills and a work ethic.

I think the idea is that if a minumum wage job is not paying enough then that person will need to find a way to get payed more in that job or to seek another job that pays more. This may not be easy, but trying to get it thru by increasing the minimum wage is not the way to achieve it since the costs of services and such will go up with the required wage making the new higher wage mostly null.

Re: Gallup: 76% Of Americans Support A Minimum Wage Increase

Given that our economy has not recovered yet we should not raise the minimum wage. If we were in a boom period a raise of the minimum wage would be an option.

Given that because of Obama Care has caused capital not to be invested due to uncertainty we should wait to raise it until thing become more leveled off.

Given that each State can raise their minimum wage if it is necessary, we do not need a allover minimum wage increase for the whole country.

Until we have a handle on the employment of illegal immigrants the raising of the minimum wage will not be effective due to payments of the illegals a substandard wage will only encourage more of that.
