Iran has agreed to allow inspectors from the International Atomic EnergyAgency to enter long-unseen nuclear sites, including the Gchine uranium mine and a heavy-water reactor in Arak, as part of a co-operation deal struck in Tehran.
Days after arduous negotiations in Geneva ended without a decisive agreement between Iran's negotiating team and six world powers on Iran's nuclear future, Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran's atomic energy organisation, met the IAEA chief, Yukiya Amano, and agreed a roadmap for greater co-operation.

At the same time, the UK foreign secretary took pains to clarify the Geneva talks had not failed and there was still a deal to be done.
Hague told MPs that differences between the two sides were now "narrow" and "we must build momentum behind the Geneva talks", but warned Tehran that it should seize the opportunity brought by the progress made in last week's negotiations.

A joint statement issued by the IAEA and Iran said both sides had agreed "to strengthen their co-operation and dialogue aimed at ensuring the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear programme".
"It is foreseen that Iran's co-operation will include providing the IAEA with timely information about its nuclear facilities and in regard to the implementation of transparency measures," the statement said. "Activities will proceed in a step-by-step manner."

Great step forward! This new Iranian government seems to be making progress. Hopefully this talks proceed. Its always a good sign when Iran is letting the IAEA into the country to take a look at more nuclear sites. But in the end lots of progress has been made!:2razz::2razz:

Like the ACA (Obamacare), I will try to withhold final judgement until it unfolds a bit although it's fun to poke at these issues during their initial developments. Personally, I think Kerry will once again look like a stooge when Iran tests their first bomb. I do hope I'm wrong for the record.

I'm reading that Saudi Arabia and Israel are dangling carrots to France so France will scuttle the deal. Saudi Arabia and Israel-two strange bedfellows, eh?

According to some of the *ahem* geniuses on the right, this is a sign of Obama's weakness.

Iran is letting the inspectors see what the Iranians want them to see.

Gee! How's that going to turn out?

More inspections is good, but negotiating with Iran over whether they can continue enriching uranium is not. The U.S., like Israel, should have a zero tolerance policy over Iran's nuclear program. And if Iran persists, then the consequences is on their shoulders because it would leave us and Israel no choice but to destroy their facilities.

Any state has the right to enrich uranium for peaceful means.

And you believe that Iran is enriching uranium for peaceful purposes?

I dont know what they are doing. Neither does our government. Hopefully we can find out what exactly they are doing with these progress in talks and more inspections.

LOL okay. Sounds like an awesome plan, for sure.

I dont see how diplomacy with a new gov is a "bad plan"...

You talking about Rouhani? LOL. Everyone that knows anything about Iran knows that the Ayatollah is the Supreme Leader, not the President. Diplomacy has failed with Iran. Rouhani has said they will not give up enrichment. All that is left is further preventive action.

There is nothing illegal about enrichment if its for peaceful purposes. Again we dont know if they are doing it or want nuclear weapons.

So you support Iran enriching uranium then.
