Honestly it is something I have wondered for a long time.

A Virginia mother let her 7-year-old son wear a Ku Klux Klan costume this Halloween because, she insisted, it's a family tradition.

"My brother has [worn it] when he was in Kindergarten and when he was 13," Black said. She went on to claim there is nothing wrong with the costume or with the White Supremacist group, which she says still exists in their Virginia town. "It's supposed to be white with white, black with black, man with woman and all of that. That's what the KKK stands for."

    Seriously?....seriously!!....seriously

How stupid do you have to be to not get that this is, at the very least, a really really bad idea for your child's Halloween costume? For all those folks out there who claim that racism is dead....ummmmmmm....no.
Stupid people do stupid things. Some people should not be permitted to procreate.

I have to question your age as well, since you seem pretty intent on making this as big of a deal as possible. I'd say you should go back to my original statement. What I said was, the entire town has already shunned her and her actions have already been denounced by just about everyone, including the town she is from. In my ideal world, the story would stop there. Everyone would just shun her and get on with their own lives. My fear is that everyone just feels the need to keep beating a dead horse, and in the process all we are really doing is validating her actions (in her mind).

How about the best of both worlds?

What are you referring to here?

My fear is that everyone just feels the need to keep beating a dead horse
What exactly is the dead horse here

and in the process all we are really doing is validating her actions (in her mind).
how would she perceive any of this as validating her actions?

To some people... any attention is good attention. People kill other human beings over attention, or even themselves over a lack of it.

That tells me why you believe she might like it but not how she would see it as validating.

Is there really a difference? In her mind, she may be validated by the simple fact that it caught people's attention.

Deflecting is a well known democrat strategy.

    Personal responsibility, not so much.

I have no use for racists no matter what their political affiliation is.

Most(Not all.) of the racists in the Democratic Party moved over to the GOP when the GOP first implemented its racist 'Southern Strategy' in the late 1960's.

Start learning about the GOP's 'Southern Strategy' here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy

The GOP's 'Southern Strategy' is one of the key reasons why it has lost most Black voters to the Democratic Party.

Few people will support a political party that hates, fears and despises them and shows this by its actions and words as the GOP has done with its 'Southern Strategy'.

The GOP abandoned Blacks to gain the support of racist White voters, now that has come back to bite the GOP in the backside.

It will be a long time before the GOP ever gets any of those voters back.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.
