    Oh. It's about a stadium.

When I saw the title of this thread, I just figured everybody would be like me and vote quite the hearty yes to 69.

As to the iPads, no, it's to every student. $1 billion. Within the first week of the initial rollout, students had discovered how to defeat the restrictions and gained full access to the internet. When the school demanded the iPads be returned, over 40% were reported stolen. That was within the first week, and at the intial school.

It takes a special kind of stupid to think the iPad program was going to work.
No argument out of me on this one. I agree with 100%

And yes, there has been splurging on education in the LAUSD for decades. When the cost of new school construction is added to the spending, there are few districts in the country that spend as much per pupil and achieves such dismal results.
I didn't say that there wasn't splurging in the school district. What I said was many of those school did not get "spoiled" like other schools. And I know this for FACT because I went to on of those schools (Washington Prep High School c/o 94). These inner city schools had the bare minimum and no one is going to tell me that there was waste in those school.

    over crowded classes
    No new textbooks
    crumbling buildings
No stadium lights for night games
    broken band instruments
    2 students per computer
    etc etc etc

So if this is splurging is going on then I must have missed it.

I went to the first game at the Allen Texas 60 million dollar stadium. Man you would think that you are at a college stadium. It was crowded the first game because of the hype and two highly ranked teams were playing. But after that, my friend tell me that they have a hard time filling that stadium on a regular basis.

They make money for lots of people. Vendors, restaurants, hotel/motels, gas stations, apparel makers, etc. not just the school system.

The one we have is used by several schools and is rented out to semi-pro and other teams.

Are you freaking kidding me !!!!

This state has slice and dice education, but yet they have revenue to build these unnecessary super complexes

Yep Texas has their priorities in order.
    Two questions:
Will the stadium benefit students in a positive way?
Will the stadium be a net gainer of income over time for the district?

It would seem things have changed over the last 20 years or so, haven't they?
