'Obama' wears straightjacket, crowd goes insane

You don't think that conservatives piss and moan about "PC" way too often? It's one of those terms that's been so beaten into the ground it has lost all meaning. Don't like my take on it? Tough.

Everybody's to PC. The left, the right, moderates, socialists, anarchists, etc. The wussification of America continues to build and build. From MSNBC stating any comment they don't agree with is racist to participation trophies for out kids.

would someone please explain why diversity training is now being mandated at the employer's site

So your cherry-picked list is clear evidence that EVERYTHING that doesn't jibe with MSNBC is deemed "Racist" by that news organization.

The intellectual dishonesty, it burns.

This shows you clearly don't understand what Freedom of Speech means.

Freedom of speech is not freedom from criticism. If someone was being jailed for speaking out against Obama, then you could say their freedom of speech was violated.

There are more ways to inhibit freedom of speech than jailing them. I seem to remember liberals hollering when conservatives tried to shout down politicians at "town hall meetings" claiming that it kept them from using their freedom of speech. Now that the shoe is on the other foot...well...not surprisingly liberals claim that only throwing them in jail is stopping free speech.

Ask the employer. It's their company.

Yep, and guess what? Those liberals were wrong.

Some liberals said that. Not all liberals. Liberals and conservatives are not hiveminds.

Shouting down politicians may be rude and boorish and get you kicked out of a venue; however, it's not a free speech issue.

the employer is not present to ask
and the employer can impose this requirement
but i cannot find a reason that they would compel diversity training as a result of this incident
there is no sign that diversity issues were present

"PC" is a meaningless term now, used by conservatives as a shorter version of "I want to say whatever insensitive thing pops into my head without being criticized for it."

Funny how in one post you make a general statement about conservatives and then turn around and backtrack saying "not everyone's a hive mind". And I wasn't talking about one person being an ass at a venue. I'm talking about a whole group drowning out the politicians. I used it as an example of the hypocrisy being spun in this thread.

I think the fact that employees of a hospital were making mental illness jokes might be why sensitivity training was ordered for the staff.

that would more be in line with sensitivity training rather than diversity issues
that they compel diversity training causes me to believe they assumed there was a racial component to the matter

Considering the company had this to say...."The company also admonished employees about wearing costumes “with political, religious, ethnic or gender-based overtones.”" Then you would be wrong and just making excuses.

I'm not "making excuses" for anyone, because I don't think the company did anything it's not well within its rights to do.

If the company doesn't want people wearing political costumes, and someone does ...

I'm trying to figure out what this has to do with the Obama administration of freedom of speech. A private corporations didn't like it. All of a sudden a lot of people who normally espouse corporate freedom have flip-flopped and want to restrict the rights of private business.

Umm...you just made a post assuming that the company did what they did because of mental health issues. Totally trying to claim that maybe they are doing what they did for some reason other than what they actually said it was. If that's not trying to make an excuse then I don't know what is.

It has nothing to do with the Obama Administration. What made you think it did?

I meant it as a possible explanation. Unclench.

 They already stated their explanation. Its right there in the article. Quit trying to backtrack. You're horrible at it.

I didn't read the entire article, just the first few grafs Rocketman posted. For whatever reason it didn't want to open on my browser. Relax.

Company orders 'diversity training' for hundreds of employees

It’s hard to decide which is scarier: a grinning “Barack Obama” wearing a straightjacket or the reaction to his appearance at one company’s annual Halloween costume party.

An employee of Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Ky., must have thought he had the costume contest all sewn up when he sauntered into the party wearing an Obama mask and a straightjacket.

And he probably couldn’t believe his luck when he and his two pals actually won the third-place trophy for their Halloween skit “VIP Security,” according to local TV station WZTV.

However, soon after their shining moment, a snafu erupted over their Obama schtick.

“I think it is very, very offensive,” C.E. Timberlake, a local pastor, told the TV station. “And really, that shouldn’t have happened.”

Company officials weren’t impressed either after a photograph of the costumed trio began circulating around the office.

Is this the first President in our history that is off limits when it comes to jokes and ridicule?

I'm not sure if this is related but does anybody remember President Bush making a comment about a straight jacket? He said that borrowing lots of money was like wearing a fiscal straight jacket. Anybody else remember that?
