Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare web

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

Wow. Kudos to you, that's a smoking gun and no mistake.

Grand Mal, what does that mean exactly?

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

Thank God you're here to provide balance.
Please explain to everyone why out of more than a dozen firms that are listed as qualified for Government work (yes, that's funny in and of itself) the Obama's chose the CGI bid without even reviewing any others ... and then after getting the contract, CGI's President became a campaign donor to USA's President.

I know, I know, you're gonna say that's done all the time in politics. But imagine how much money, how many votes, and how much campaign groundwork is gonna come back to the Democrat Party at election time given all the contracts and Community Organizations tapped for the Obamacare rollout ... not to mention all the new dependents/voters targeted by ACA ... no, it's unprecedented.

So ... let's have the balance.

Yes, they did. But how do you prove cronyism? When did CGI get the contract to build the website? The chart below shows that CGI has contracted with the same federal government agency HHS since 2007...under Bush.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JoZ2FvcEhuQ1VPUk96dG8wQ0E&usp=drive_web#gid=0 .

The source of the chart came from this WaPo article....

".... As Kaitlin Devine at the Sunlight Foundation has noted, government spending is bundled into large contracts that last for years, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly what is spent for what project. For instance, CGI Federal, generally regarded as the main contractor for healthcare.gov, has one such contract that was signed three years before the Affordable Care Act was signed into law and lasts until 2017.

Devine methodically searched through all of the task orders for the CGI Federal contract, highlighted in blue what she guessed was related to the health-care Web site — and came up with a figure of just $70 million. (Still, we should note, a news release issued by CGI in 2011 touted a contract of $93 million over two years.) [See update below]

Of course, a Web site is just the Internet portal. There’s also the entire backbone of the exchanges, such as the data hub created by Optum/Quality Software Services Inc., a unit of UnitedHealth Group. In a June report, the Government Accountability Office said that as of March 31, $55 million had been obligated to QSSI for the data hub....read....

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JoZ2FvcEhuQ1VPUk96dG8wQ0E&usp=drive_web#gid=0

Whoa, looky there, it appears the CGI didn't create the data hub....Optum/Quality Software Services Inc., a unit of United Health Group, did. So where's your cronyism now, eh?

Next!

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

I think it's always interesting to view something like this as if it happened to someone in the the other political party. Say Laura Bush went to school with someone who became the CEO of a company that ended up with a big government contract. Would liberals give her or George Bush the benefit of the doubt? And, to be fair, would conservatives be so eager to suggest there must be some connection or would we complain about liberals jumping to unsubstantiated conclusions?

I can certainly understand why the common man (such as myself) would be so quick to call foul. Admittedly, I've done it with every other U.S. President since Reagan and have done "guilt by association" even under the current presidency. It's about the ever present "plutocrats" that's becoming more and more pervasive in DC politics. How deeply inner twined are the K-Street lobbyist and wealthy donors mixed with each successive White House Administration? It's difficult to discern mainly for this reason:

On a domestic front, The President of the United States is like the CEO of a major corporation. Each will seek out who they believe are the most qualified individual in their respective field to manage certain departments or specific projects....at least that's the way it's suppose to work. But more and more what we're seeing is these individuals hired in moreso because of their political associations (and wealth) than their profession expertise.

While I admit there is no concrete evidence to support the Michelle Obama - Princeton grad - political campaign contribution - CGI no-bid contract connection, the hint of a rather loose relationship is still quite...suspect...to some, but not so much to others.

For me, it's not so much the contract that's the big deal since it's already been shown here within this thread that CGI has had it at least since 2007 and will retain such until 2017. The question is when did this Princeton alumni come on the scene and why? If he's been there all along, no big deal. But if he suddenly shows up, I think it's fair to question why? But in the end, it's a moot point because as any CEO would tell you, they try to find people they know to be the best of the best to fill positions of critical need. We may not like it when that same hiring practice is put in place at the White House (I sure don't because it just wreaks of ethics violations not to mention cronyism), but until WE, THE PEOPLE, set our political biases (and bigotry) aside and start working together to tell our politicians "NO MORE OF THIS INSIDER HIRING BS" it will just continue. We really do waste time simply pointing fingers across the racial/political divide.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

When her brother went to Princton two years earlier it was probably around 7% to 10% black students at Princeton. From the late 70's to mid 80's most the brilliant students chose and were accepted at Harvard, whereas Princeton was trying to shake it's anti-semitic and anti-minority reputation and preferred well rounded minorties over specialized academic students. Its true, Michelle Robinson was not a remarkable student at Princeton. She did however go on to earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School in 1988. After graduting from Harvard, Michelle went on to become a successful professional in her own right. However, her real claim to national notority is largely based on her husband becoming the POTUS. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama seems to have put her own career and ambitions on hold in order to support her husband. Its an age old tale...behind most successful men is a stong woman.

she got into Harvard Law because she was black

at the time she applied Harvard was giving black applicants a .5 credit on their GPA and when LSAT scores were on the 800 schedule, more than 130 points

In other words a White Male with a 3.6 GPA and a 740 LSAT (which was about the cut off we saw as yale undergraduates for acceptance into Harvard Law School) would be considered inferior to a Black with a 3.2 and a 640 LSAT score.

Michelle was not a successful professional. She was an affirmative action hire at Sidley and Austin where she didn't last all that long. Her salary went way up at the hospital where she was an administrator when her husband was elected as a senator.

btw in the late 70s and mid 80s Yale had the best students which was reflected what the Deans of Chicago and Cornell Law bot told me: "we consider Yale the best undergraduates and that is why we have more Yale undergraduates at our law schools than any other college save our own"

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

I think this thread probably falls under the "Affirmative Action President" meme the rightwingers love trotting out. There's a whole rightwing industry spewing out this stuff, about how Obama and of course Mrs. Obama only got anywhere in life because of affirmative action, without which they would be working in a fast food restaurant (because they're black, you know and black people never excel on their own merit according to the tea party). The OP is extending the talking point to black acquaintances of Mrs Obama from 30 years back. Here's how the "Affirmative Action President" meme works.

JACK CASHILL: LITERARY SWIFTBOATER - T H E* *L *E* F* T *- *W* I *N* G* **N* O* I* S* E* **M* A* C* H* I* N* E

Pretty much.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

...

Dubya got into Yale because: daddy.

Legacy student. That's affirmative action. Just a different kind.

And Michelle was always a gifted student. She skipped 2nd grade, was on the honor roll throughout high school, was the salutatorian at her HS graduation, and graduated cum laude at Princeton.

She breezed into Harvard as a Princeton honor student, and was recruited to work at Sidley and Austin and the sum and total of your post is a bunch of garbage.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

Her thesis was a a significant intellectual stretch too.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

The Daily Caller had a piece that I pasted into Word Friday but that has now been yanked. It claimed: "CMS is an operating division within HHS overseeing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. A sole source award is a contract that meant for a single person or company. An HHS source told The Daily Caller that the agency received four proposals out of 16 pre-qualified bidders. The source would not say which companies were pre-qualified, nor which companies submitted proposals."

I'm very interested in learning about whether there was competitive bidding or not.

The rightwing Affirmative Action meme. Disgusting. Mrs. Obama got into law school because she's smart.

But thanks for admitting your ugly prejudices. Like we didn't know.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

affirmative action birds of a feather
do business together?

tell me it ain't so.

Subliterate tea party types keep hoping that if they keep repeating the ugly affirmative action meme, nobody will notice that Mrs. Obama is smart and educated, and they're dumb and uneducated.

It's not working.

are you claiming I am sub literate or a member of the tea party.

Michele obama is smart and educated. She was not smart enough or educated enough to bet into Princeton or Harvard law but for affirmative action.

she wasn't smart enough. she didn't have grades sufficient for a white person to get into Harvard Law. Her senior Thesis at Princeton was mediocre at best.

I am not prejudiced at all. I am merely telling the truth. and its a slap in the face of blacks who actually merit admission into HLS or Princeton to be tarred by the stigma of affirmative action.

Tell me HOJ why so many upper echelon public schools saw the number of blacks decrease significantly when affirmative action was prohibited? because a majority of the blacks getting into top flight schools were not qualified using the same standards for whites or Asians.

its also why blacks graduate at much lower numbers from big name schools-they get into competition with people smarter than they are-rather than going to schools where they are in the same league as the competition

LOL that is hilarious. she didn't breeze into harvard. MAGNA CUM LAUDE was the minimum for a Yale white male with top 1% board scores to even have a 50-50 chance at at Harvard Law school.

She wasn't much of a HS student-she claimed teachers told her she wasn't going to get in and when she did it was attributed by her of being due to legacy.

its fun watching people who didn't go to Ivy league colleges or law schools pretending what reality is.

Cum Laude at princeton or yale was around 3.4 to 3.6. at Yale it was 16-23 As out of 36 courses. Magna was 24-28 As and Summa was 29 or more. You could flunk out one term and graduate Summa. One of the founders of the federalist society graduated with 36 As but didn't make Phi Beta Kappa due to having failed one semester. She got into Chicago due to being SCL and having perfect board scores.

of course she was recruited to S&A-they too have quotas. She just didn't do very well there

And did ya see that, along with her CGI sister at Princeton, they brought a PLO radical to the campus to, um, stir things up a bit?
But, yeah ... they hardly knew each other.
Purely the fortunes of fate that brought them together again at this time.

I love that American has tried to emphasized the point that this is cronyism because they are both black and
may (I use that word very carefully in this case) have known each other 30 years go. Talk about a leap of mother****ing faith.

Well Head, if the people that legislated this program and hired the company that designed the web site are so freaking smart, why doesn't it work?

Certainly it's racist to even notice this.

Alright, the race card! You must be a Liberal, only liberals play the race card.

Hey Hum ... trolls don't concern themselves with minor details like logical thinking.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

Let's do some logical thinking.

This fellow Princeton Alum, one of thousands Michelle went to school with, wasn't even hired by this company for top management until mid 2010.

As others have pointed out, the Bush Administration awarded this company contracts well before the ACA. But, let's look at what happened, BEFORE this person, Toni Townes-Whitley, who has not been shown to be connected in any other way, other than they both graduated 1985 from Princeton, and *wow* happened to belong to some campus orgs they both had an interest...

Let's see what kind of awards the company received before Toni Toni fo Fonie was Daily Collared:

I could go all the way back many more years. That was before Toni stepped even in the door..and look, with Mooch's help, suddenly, instantly! the Contracts were awarded.

Or not.

The Daily Collar strikes again. With bullcrap and a side helping of riddled spittle flecks -- and connies run run run with news from the place that has burnt them so often, to post more bad information and rumor, from the place that will continue to burn them.

What's the top punk number before they ask themselves: Hey, do I really wanna get punked again?

But just continue. It shows the many of us just what ends they will stoop to smear, and who is worthy of being taken seriously.
