Pew: Tea Party support at record low

oh looky, yet another lefty who want other people to go away...how very unsurprising.
Our Senate Dems don't seem to be high-fiving like the House Loons have throughout
tell me stories about how liberal like tolerance and diversity of thought.. I haven't heard those lies in a few days.
The Northern Whigs were more liberal than the Southern Whigs, Lincoln if you will..
The two come together in a VA Home in Quincy, IL..
as an aside, I'm not a Tea Partier... I think the whole "movement" is stupid, always have.... so go find a new leg to hump.
I know you're not Thrilla..I would prefer to make "my own lean", like maybe Liberty-I if I were you..Lincoln-D

When you crunch the numbers it's the Democrat Party that has a problem with the majority of Americans.
Not really since they gained seats in the house Obama was reelected and gained seats in the senate.

That's why Obama's next agenda to save the Democrat Party and it's socialist agenda is AMNESTY and increasing legal immigration of uneducated and unskilled immigrants who are very likely to become dependent on government. With out 30 million new voters who will be dependent on government (tax payers) the Democrat Party is doomed.

One of the strongest memes for/against 3 parties is from one/other current two parties to say we would be "more like Europe", ..
Deals would be have to be made between two of the three parties, mabe even four or five parties, Europeanism if you will.
well until independents get serious about forming a third party, i guess they will have to settle with 2 parties they don't like.

Sorry, but the tea baggers are like crying children on an airplane on a late Friday night flight after a long week out of town....... ok, not a good analogy, as I like children and feel for both the parent and child..... but, they still are annoying. The Tea Party is at the root of most government dysfunction. I appreciate the role of the loyal opposition in crafting policy. The tea baggers have no interest in crafting policy; they just want to cry on the airplane.

I respect dissent and disagreement. I resent (and am not tolerant of) stupidity. Most republicans represent healthy dissent. Most tea baggers represent stupidity (the idea that not raising the debt limit would not be a big deal or even considering risking it --- stupidity.... contrary to virtually every expert on the subject).

opinion noted.... inaccuracies dismissed.

in LA, I agree..

I'm listening to C-Span and the house. My congressman David Scott a Democrat just give his one minute speech. He said we gave an oath to the federal government. to preserve and defend the federal government and more federal government this and that. Ah, last time I looked the oath was to the Constitution. The oath is to preserve and defend the constitution, not the federal government.

Ah, the house is done talking and the voting starts in the house. All the talk from republicans was conciliatory and the democrats very partisan rub your nose in it. I suppose they won that right and don't blame them. But it is like a baseball player who hit a game winning home run to take 5 minutes rounding the bases. Oh well, the only thing that matters is passage.

Still I find it very strange a congressman, mine to boot, doesn't know who or what he took an oath to.

I just noticed, for 2013 I have the numbers wrong, they are switched. It should be D 30% R 20% It should look like this:...

My mistake and it was a big one for 2013, my fingers typed faster than my mind worked on the 2013 figures.

....

Thanks for your honest self- correction.

I dunno about this polls legitimacy? In my area our Tea Party membership is way up. It's been growing every month since it's inception every month sees more membership over the year over year previous numbers, so not sure how this can be considered an accurate poll. And, just to note, the same trends are being reported all over the country in various districts?

Tim-

Really, really low? I think I'll send them some money. If you like interesting times, you should send 'em some money, too. Otherwise, the long national soap opera might end. When is the next crisis beginning, or did I already miss its kick-off? The TP has inherited the Mantle of the Pinata that W used to wear. Obama requires that some entity on the right be available for blame and abuse at all times.

Well...you have to realize, 30% of the polled public still believe that GWB was a good President....so you have to recognize that nearly 1/3 of the public out there are completely whacked out.
37% still believe Obama is doing a good job.

And why do you not like the Tea Party? Be specific, not the regular liberal banter rhetoric. SPECIFICALLY, why do you not like them?

Friends and family of mine who are tea baggers are religionists who support forms of social engineering and are racial and religious bigots who support American empire and corporate welfare and the continue militarization of America.

Ok, once again, SPECIFICALLY why do you not like the Tea Party. No liberal rhetoric generalizations please. Be specific.

How they attempt to achieve their objectives. The use of the debt ceiling and shutdowns as a form of "negotiation". Their belief in strict adherence to ideology...I'm not even saying their specific ideology but the fact even those who are usually allies of theirs are ostracized and banished because those individuals may not have the same exact position on what needs to be done and how to achieve it.

That is a form of negotiation that has been used MANY times. This is not the first time. If you recall, Obama also voted not to raise the debt ceiling as a Senator. So we can throw that point out because it is simply not valid.

I'm curious for you to expand on the 2nd half of your post though.

I'm curious ... are you ideological?
Do you think Obama is ideological?
Or do you think Obama is driven by an overwhelming urge to find common ground with political opposition?

I have no doubt the 'Tea Party' support is low because most people in this country lack the capacity to think for themselves and only parrot the same mindless rhetoric they are spoon fed.

I seem to remember just a few years ago hearing that the Tea Party approval numbers were at an all time low. That the Tea party is no more. That the Tea Party has no power in Congress. That the Tea Party was just a short fad. That the Tea Party is history. That the Tea Party is extinct.

That was a few years ago.

Obviously they had no power in trying to destroy the ACA did they?

Cutting social services, view gov as a negative, corporate influence, citizens united, against uhc, rhetoric is ridiculous, not grassroots at all, use veterans as political pawns, gov shutdown. Do i need to go on?

We can't throw it out. There's a large difference from a symbolic vote and an actual threatening of not raising the debt ceiling with enough votes to make that threat possible. The Dems voted against the Debt ceiling when the Republicans had enough votes to pass it on their on. When Dems had the votes in the House and Senate to actually not raise the debt ceiling they raised it. We can't really discuss the issue if you don't recognize that.

As for the 2nd part...the Tea Party for one...is style over substance. Mitch Mcconnel is by far the person most responsible for stopping the Presidents agenda. There is no other Republican that has been as effective at it. Yet he doesn't have the Rhetoric of Ted Curz or Bachman or Mike Lee or other Tea Party favorites therefore...he's getting a primary challenger. It's happened soo many times in soo many districts where effect politicians have been kicked out of office because they aren't enough of a bomb thrower. Maybe being a bomb thrower gets you ratings but it's not good for anyone.

As for being ostracized...Republicans that have been fighting (if you're a Republican) the "good fight" for decades are ousted. Individuals that have strong beliefs in certain things...maybe deregulation...maybe fiscal matters..whatever...that don't from top to bottom agree with the Tea party. Those individuals are named RINO's and voted out. It's created an atmosphere that unless you're lock step with a specific ideology you get primaried. So many effective politicians that were in DC to actually govern are getting replaced by empty suits that are more concerned with sound bites than actual governing.

Believe it or not the rest of us have to live with the rightwing melodrama.

Like this guy:

Harry Reid in '06: Raising debt limit last thing we should do, will weaken country, hurt economy - YouTube

and the guy who said this:

Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that "the buck stops here." Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit.
