Other posters are not required, nor expected to understand your moods. They are also not restricted from responding however they wish, as long as it is within the rules established for the site. Most of us are grown-ups here, and can take what we dish out.

The 1950's called. They want their thread back.

Honestly, some of the responses in this thread have made me nauseous, but given some posters' history such remarks were to be expected. Others were not expected, and to say I am desperately disillusioned would be an understatement.

This entire thread makes me want to puke, when an unconscious 14 yr old is called a slut and a whore, a family is driven out of town by threats and harassment, and prosecutors refuse to move forward because a terrified child who cannot even remember what happened to her is too terrified to cooperate, despite the fact that there are myriad spectators who are willing to testify to what they saw. This thread is a poster-child for what is wrong with American society today. Shame on some of you... and you all know who you are.

That's a whole lot of assumptions you're making there, Di. I don't agree with calling the girl names and I haven't done that, but neither do I think someone should be convicted based on a sensationalized article (that seems to have conveniently left out a lot of the less salacious details).

"Interesting. What I find to be telling is a person's inability to read and/or understand that which came before."
    So shame on you.
    She wasn't unconscious.
The folks who saw the video say she was conscious and a willing participant.

It's such a shame the majority of people don't live in that fairy tale world you speak of. I mean, it seems so improbable that a witness/victim would refuse to cooperate and yet.... it happens quite regularly in our world - regardless of whether the person on trial is found guilty or not.

Somebody refusing to testify or cooperate doesn't tell you or anybody else jack **** about their motives for not cooperating. It doesn't even tell you anything about whether or not they want justice. Now obviously, you'll counter some lollygagging diatribe of a post where you tell us all how pure of heart you are. However, the reality is you're not in whatever situation people who refuse to cooperate are in - so you have absolutely no clue why they refuse to cooperate. All you have is an armchair psychologist's opinion on the matter.

Well, you know what? If it were my daughter, you can bet your ass I would be trying to find justice for her, no matter the obstacles. As for your links, it's different with murder cases. Rape cases don't usually go forward without victim cooperation.

    Find her justice?
    For what?
By the evidence the girl in this instance was not unconscious and was a willing participant.

If it were my daughter I would not see it that way. My instinct would be protective, regardless of the circumstances.

I would hope that you are not the type of parent who thinks their child can do no wrong regardless of the evidence.
You can be protective and still accept the evidence as it is.
