They shut down the government because the House (the wallet of the US) refuses to fund a law that most in the United States oppose....

The best part about Obamacare is hearing all the progressives who used to support the idea bitching now that their premiums have doubled or even tripled....

Isn't that what everyone's banking on? That the other side will get most of the blame?

Yeah, but the polls also show that the American public wants the government to reopen and blames the republicans for closing it. Go figure.

You won't find any poll that supports that.

It's more accurate to say that the American people blame Congress, as a whole, for the shut down.

The biggest thing that Americans are getting from the shutdown, is that the bureacracy is too large and has too much control over the private sector. After Obamacare is fully implemented, they will see that even more. There's nothing in the Liberal agenda that creates a permanent win.

Both parties seem to be seen as such. Both parties has had a lose of people who identify/associate themselves with the two major parties. Both have taken hits but the Republicans more so. If you looked at the figures at election time last year, November of 2012 30% of the electorate identified themselves as Republicans, 35% as Democrats and 33% as independent. Today or at least as of October 5, 2013 those figures were 20% for Republicans 30% for Democrats and 47% for independents.

The Democrats wouldn't care if their number shrunk to 10% as long as the republican number was lower. In the two party system we have, it doesn't matter if 70% think your scum as long as 80% think the other party or candidate is a worst scum. Those who dislike, detest, hate if you will both parties have no choice but to vote for one or the others, even if they think both are evil and very incompetent. Then it becomes the lesser of two evils. Let's face, as of this moment, these folks think the Republicans are the most evil and the Democrats the lesser of the two evil parties. That suits the Democrats just fine and they have no incentive what so ever to compromise or put an end to what was a Republican started shut down.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Congress is at 5%, so obviously none of them care.

then explain to me why I think they are whacky RW nut jobs. Before you start on the MSM I probably have watched Fox more over the years than any, and at one time I was as far right as anyone. The Tea Party, at least today's version, is the party of uber conservatives, Palin, Rush Cruz and the others do not reflect the face of America today, thinking they do might be the problem.

Our congress has nothing to do with that considering we don't vote via popular vote in a democratic/constitutional republic (at least not on federal legislation)...

I can't blame republicans for anything in this situation - they continually give the Senate bills and the Senate along with Obama reject them.... Republicans are at least trying here - the progressive democrats just want their cake and eat it...

    It's really that simple.

Also, the only reason why republicans have taken a hit is because the MSM and the idiots that pay attention to their lies and propaganda do nothing more than champion democrats....

The truth is extremely simple - republicans in the House sent several bills to the Senate and they were all denied because all progressives in the Senate care about is funding Obamacare...

In this instance republicans are trying and democrats are acting like the 5-year-old in the checkout aisle stomping his/her feet because mommy wouldn't by him/her a candy bar
