In what way is a Nurse practitioner (Medical Professional) performing an abortion in only certain circumstances (first trimester) a back alley abortion?

It's not, of course, but if you're an authoritarian masquerading as a conservative and wanting to give the choice of carrying a fetus to term to the government rather than the mother, then you'll grasp at any sorts of straws and repeat whatever talking points support your point of view.

well, there is certainly a place for the personhood debate here (despite what both sides want to believe, there is hardly a philosophical, ethical, or scientific consensus on the topic). But clearly calling this "back alley abortions" moves well beyond that point of disagreement and all the caveats it should carry

It's not really an opinion. Being that 1) we are talking about more than midwives, 2) "akin to" is not "equal to", 3) additional training is mandated, etc, etc
