Some people need to stop it with the "safety" concerns. Honestly. Children will never learn if they can't get hurt. (Heck, I encouraged my son to get on the monkey bars the other day despite knowing it was likely that he would fall because if he doesn't try he will never know how to do it.)

And some people need to stop trying to place blame, especially on schools or others for what are accidents. It is not negligent to allow a kid to play, especially a sport. It is life. Injuries and even death are a part of life. It is tragic when children die, but it is also part of life, and doesn't mean that we always have to look for ways to prevent every child from dying.

What if you don't know what those things are? I don't even know what a batters box is or going over the middle to get a ball means.

I'll probably be more successful than most of those people. You don't need sports it is bad parenting to stop your kid form playing a sport because you think it is unsafe not because the kid hates sports like I do. I do know that football players are all sissies(?).

Parents and teachers in the article are taking it away. If you dont want to play sports, that is your decision, but no one should make it for you.

Heh, take away the two little balls and none of the others will be necessary. Problem solved.

Think of it as allowing the kids to play hockey but only if they don't use sticks, pucks or skates.

    And there goes their childhood.

And we wonder why kids are turning more to TV's, computers, and video games for entertainment.

In many cases, it's because that all they have left once their parents step in.
