GOP In Grave Danger Of Losing House In 2014, PPP Polls Show [W:78]

The Tea Party is better than what came before, which was a corrupt Republican establishment. If liberals prefer the Delay/Rove/Bush party over the Tea Party, it's only because they can be bought.

Actually I do prefer rational people who are corrupt to the tea party freaks and weirdos.

Rove is corrupt but not apocalyptic or stupid or supestititous. He wants money and power, and is willing to engage in dishonest rhetoric to get it. Contemptible for sure, but not freakish and self-destructive and delusional, like the tea party. I imagine one can have an intelligent conversation with Rove sitting at a bar. No such possibility could happen with Palin or Cruz or Bachmann. They are knownothings who actually believed Rove's agitprop (to his complete dismay). It's not that their beliefs are wrong (they are of course), but rather it's the nature of their beliefs -- anybody who thinks Obama is a Kenyan Marxist Wall Street insider or that the scientists of the world are conspiring to promote global warming to get grants, or that Agenda 21 is using iris recognition on their kids, can believe ANYTHING, including that witches need to be burned and that Jews control the economy.

That's the scary part -- tea partiers are total freaks. They can and have been manipulated to believe every crackpot meme the Koch Brothers and the rightwing noise machine cranks out.

I don't think they are freaks, so much as amateurs. Basically, these are the right-wing version of the Daily Kos community, thinking that standing up and fighting is all important whether or not you set back your cause or not. As time goes on, they'll learn. I think it's encouraging that the proposal for the short term debt limit increase seems to be coming from the right side of the conference, so maybe they are learning after all.
