House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures[W:120]

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

There are public restrooms (Men and Women) on the property.

Of the national mall in general, not in the memorial itself. And Im sure people would be fine without them, since its supposed to be shutdown. The point however was the abuse of power and political manuvering needs to be investigated, not the operation itself. We have park employees on record saying they were told to make like miserable.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

And you know this because ?

I know our health insurance has sky rocketed over the last 40 years.
DH is self employed so we are fully aware of the price of health insurance over the last 40 years.
The last couple of years the cost has finally slowed.

Because they cut reimbursements by the gov. And I can tell you, it's going to hurt quality as providers lay off workers ( or those workers quit) and cut services.

But the exchanges don't run on gov reimbursements. They are private insurance plans, and the restrictions they've put on them will drive up the prices. It's not important what they overall medical spending is, all that matters is what the price of premiums are, and that's what will skyrocket.

I disagree. The cost of healthcare is already being curbed.
I see it in our personal premiums and even Forbes admits that costs are being curbed.
Read the Forbes article I linked.

They are immediately adjacent to the memorial, and were constructed when it was.

The cost is going up 60%-100% on younger Americans due to restriction on community ratings and medical underwritings, the same ones the Obama administration is spending millions of dollars trying to get to sign up. If they don't sign up for the law and instead elect to pay the fine, I can personally guarantee you that premiums will skyrocket for everyone else on the individual market.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

So you can't answer. Figures.
What an absurd response.
We have been discussing/debating this for how long now? And you are feigning not knowing how the Republicans have compromised.
"Oy Vey" was an appropriate response to your question.

How have they compromised? I have yet to see it. Lay it out. It should be easy since they've been compromising all over the place.

Whatever. Its semantics. The point of the OP was wether an investigation was needed to deal with the apparent abuse of power of the executive branch operating in a way to intentionally hurt people.

you don't seem to understand that the world war two memorial is a federal monument, and because the federal government shut down, it had to close the memorial.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Im done.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

So you can't lay it out and tell me what all their compromises are?
No dude!
This has been discussed for days.
You should be able to recite each and every different proposal.
But for some reason you can't. Must be the partisan politics that you engage in.

the only thing democrats want is to end the shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. those are not negotiating postiions, those are things that should not be used as leverage to extract concessions. the democrats want to there to be negotiations without the threats of government shutdown or default on debt ceiling.

the only thing democrats want is to end the shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. those are not negotiating postiions,
And they can have those things when they start negotiating.

those are things that should not be used as leverage to extract concessions.
Yes they should be.

the democrats want to there to be negotiations without the threats of government shutdown or default on debt ceiling.
That is what they say. But we know they are not to be believed.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

They should. Let's negotiate a tax hike on the rich, cuts to the military, gun control, maybe a jobs bill -- all the things we couldn't get due to GOP obstructionism.

Be careful what you ask for!

Why do you keep spewing the same bs?
The rich already pay more than there fair share and the Military and Guns are Constitutional requirements, ACA is not.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

?.. the Military and Guns are Constitutional requirements, ACA is not.

The Supreme Court decided the ACA is Constitutional.

See, you just want to make demands. That's not a negotiation. But you knew that and you know that the GOP's rhetoric about negotiating is pretense. And now you've proved it.

NEXT DISCREDITED RIGHWING MEME!

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

The Supreme Court decided the ACA is Constitutional.
Did I say it wasn't found to be Constitutional?
Or did I say the others were Constitutional requirements, which the ACA is not?

Pay attention.

There you go with the bs again.

The Republicans submitted amendments and making compromises to their original position.
It is the Dems who are not negotiating, and they even said they wouldn't. That is the Dems making demands and not compromising.
Duh!

It is so easy to discredit your idiotic memes.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Why should the Dems "negotiate"?

The ACA has been upheld by the Supreme Court and the American people voted in Obama even though his opponent ran a campaign that largely consisted of repealing the ACA. Furthermore the people voted in a Democratic Senate.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Then why not just pay those people to not do that?

Because then we would have to put more people on the payroll to police everyone going to the national monuments.
