House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures[W:120]

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Is this what you righties do when you're trumped?

And yet another Progressive/Liberal meme...claim victory when obviously defeated.

...don't play games indeed...:lamo

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

The GOP shut down the government and Issa wants to investigate why it shut down. The farce is complete.

How could you misread the intent of the article so badly... and I apologize beforehand if English is your second language... but to take a position this far off that expressed in the very first paragraph [ how could you miss that? ] of an eminently readable article...well, its laughable.

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind, but those blinded by their messiah, that Barry is trying to inflict as much deflect-able blame as he can on the Republicans...but, hey, they are hip to the man's jive... I think many have probably read their Alinksky by this point...

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

The GOP poster boys are slowly sinking to the bottom of this wingtard suspension.
Now with America's most hated Repub Issa involved, their House could be in jeopardy.
I'm sure every woman in this land would love to slap that smirk right off of Can'tor.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Perhaps he will also investigate this 'idiocity'...

The National Park Service placed cones along highway viewing areas outside Mount Rushmore this week, barring visitors from pulling over and taking pictures of the famed monument.

Really? Cones along a public highway to prevent viewing of a National Monument...And I'm sure they used a contractor to place the cones (not even gov't employees)...

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Repubs get their negotiation as soon as the Russian Roulette stops.
Even for Repub supporters, Repubs have this Nation's stomachs in knots.

All the Democrats need to do to stop the shut down is pass the bill and let the President then be the one who is to decide to keep the government shut down or not.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Repubs start the probe with determining whether policy riders and poison pills attached to CRs, their version of the Senate filibuster, should be allowed.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Maybe he'll investigate this one too:

Like the hundreds of World War II veterans who came to National Mall to pay their respects this week, a group of Vietnam veterans found a barricade blocking the way to their memorial Friday. News4's Mark Segraves said two U.S. Park Service Rangers manning the gate asked that the group respect the government's shutdown but moved aside.

The veterans then moved the barricade and walked down to the wall to pay their respects. But a flood of tourists followed even though the memorial is closed to the general public.

U.S. Park Police arrive to the scene, asked everyone to leave and put the barricade back into place.

Really? There WERE Park Rangers manning the gate but could not 'secure' the monument for visitors? It would seem the costs were the same...

What does that even mean? And further what does it have to do with the OP/thread? Policy riders, poison pills?

I'm assuming you're being sincere...

A rider is an attachment to the main plan. The tax on medical devices being repealed would be considered a rider.

A "poison pill" is a rider but designed to be harmful in general. This would be defunding and delaying implementation of the PPACA.

LOL. Facts show it to be a farce alright. And as usual, the problems are caused by the Obama administration and the Democrat party.

"Sealing up the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II Memorial—they are normally never closed—takes more federal manpower, not less. Democrats’ refusal to vote for Republican-sponsored bills that would keep the entire national park system open—as well as spending for the District of Columbia and veterans’ programs—what is that?

The answer came in a memo from White House Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Burwell providing guidance to federal agencies and departments. Aside from prefacing this Sept. 17 memo with a political talking point (Congress is to blame, not the administration), she instructs agency heads not to consider whether the cost of shutting down a government website is more expensive than keeping it running.

And that, not Tea Party intractability, is why Yosemite’s website has been down since last week."

Once again, the Obama administration goes out of it's way to inflect pain on the American people. That's some government, uh?

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

one thing I would like to know is how you close a stone structure, that does nothing.

You hire essential personnel like security guards and you prevent people from defacing it or going inside. Some of us still value our national treasures. You would have us tear them down and put up statues of Ted Cruz?

sorry but these stone structures do not have guards watching them, during normal operations of government, why close them and place guards on them, since they do nothing?

as to the last part, its ridicules.

Because guides for tourists are not essential and must not be working by law. The House voted to pay them though. That is whats requires we hire essential people like security guards a a greater expense but they are allowed to work because they are "essential".
Your acting like there is anything sensible about this whole shutdown really gave me a chuckle. It is expensive, damaging to our economy , idiotic AND totally unnecessary which is why the T's love it so. They thrive on chaos and destruction and the more they spend the more "broke" they can say we are.

Does 'Park Rangers' (as stated in the article) = guides ?
The House voted to pay them though.
And that's good right?

But they are hired. They did show up per the article.

Again you ignore security, you are wrong about them normally being unwatched.. If it was a statue of Ted Cruz you be glad it was guarded I bet.

Let's pretend keeping government monuments open doesn't require staff. Let's pretend.

government has been shutdown 17 times in 40 years, what is the excuse for not closing them 17 times before?

now.... your beginning to act like NIMBY.

Perhaps they will investigate how we have funds to keep this website up:

Let's Move!

And not this one:

Amber alert

Could be for any number of reasons, up to and including the IT staffers in that area were deemed "non-essential".

Department of Justice...'non-essential' vs. 'Lets move'...really? About how plausible does that sound to you?

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

I see you do not understand that "Monuments" is not the "Government".

I also see you are towing the liberal line with the false talking points. It was the Dems that shut it down.

I see you do not understand. these are things the government provides for us. So shutting it down means that these things are not available to us. That is what the shutdown means. It does not mean we let the republicans go about life as normal doing what they want to because of this. You want the shut down now you face the loss of some of your government provided things. If it is that imprtant to you then feel free to fund the whole government and tell your reps to do that. I am quite fine with you taking a hit because of this. You and the veterans do not need to be provided something from the government that you are railing against. Maybe you will figure out that shutting down the whole government over not getting your way on one issue was a really stupid idea that screws us all, but I am not bothered that you feel pain over a decision that the idiots you back with a sycophantic fervor.

Re: House Republicans seek probe of D.C. monument closures

Yes he is. The Republicans have been willing to negotiate and the Dems have not.

They are the Party of "No" right now.

There should be no negotiations on funding the agreed upon functions of our government. You have had 40 votes to get rid of Obamacare and it is still there, now it is time to fund everything we voted on doing and funding. You do not get to kill off programs you do not like by simply not funding them when they have been democratically voted on and established by the majority, and they have been upheld as constitutional by the court. You have to get a majority to take out obamacare, and it is not right for it to be taken out by a minority. No there should not be a negotiation on that in any way shape or form. I am glad Obama and the dems are standing up to you, and I hope they continue. If they will not i will make damed sure to vote for someone who will stand up to your people and tell them they are in the minority and the people overwhelmingly want this.
